My wife went into the Marks Food hall in Bluewater yesterday and she said it was absolutely manic - frenzied buying - she goes in there fairly regularly and she said she has never seen anything like it, queues on every till stretching to the back of the store - I have said this before but I will say it again - the results in a couple of weeks time are imo going to smash estimates

I see no reason to sell before the merger - the synergies between the two companies will be hugely beneficial in terms of savings going forward - only issue I can see is redundancies and if the unions kick off - if that goes smoothly then the share price should re rate imo

Correct Aspers - come on guys - plenty of traders/investors have made errors, I have made loads and I have been doing this for more than 30 years - the key is to get more buys/sells correct than incorrect which I have been fortunate to do - it's Christmas time, the season of good will so let's just move on from the personal insults and concentrate on SGC going forward

Absolutely EC - Omicron means - More people working from home, more people not going on holiday and staying in the UK = more food and clothes being ordered from Marks - bring it on - I monitor Marks website for daily stock fluctuations and I can tell you that clothes, especially winter items, like cashmere, coats etc are flying off the shelves atm - going to be a massive set of numbers for the trading update on the 13th Jan imo

Rotation going on atm from tech stocks to value due to inflation and interest rate rises down the pipe - SGC fits into that category and let's face it the value through synergies between SGC and NEX has not yet played out yet - I am holding until this gets north of 1 pound which should hopefully be pdq - gla dyor etc

Buzby - good point re buying inflation proof value - I think Drahi was happy to buy at the levels he has knowing interest rate rises were coming down the pipe - market now waking up to this and acting accordingly this morning

BT share price going mental in the last 20 minutes or so, down, then up then down now up 4.5p - maybe large scale positions unwinding here?

EC - Dow drop nothing to do with Omicron - US inflation figures were worse than expected, hence the drop - I did say in a previous post I was more worried about inflation than Omicron - still only one death recorded in the world as of last night and how long has Omicron been with us ? - think about it

EC - it depends if you are trading or investing - traders will look to make a small profit on any mark downs, personally I am an investor not a trader and look to add on mark downs - MKS has always been a 2-3 year play for me and I have been buying them at sub 1 pound and adding ever since - I will not be selling anytime soon - MKS will go back to dominating retail imo with the Ocado venture and the fact that it is in most towns the last man standing on the high street which gives it market dominance - back into the ftse next year, back to dividends and maybe a 100pct takeover of Ocado - this is why big funds like Pelham and Blackrock are now long on MKS - They like me are looking at the final results being higher than 500m and if that happens then MKS will go through 3 quid very very easily - all imo dyor etc

Well done to all the long term holders on here, have to say I am disappointed and would have preferred SGC to go it alone, but with merging synergies between the two companies the share should go a lot higher than this down the line - I added some a few weeks back at 76p and the rest of my holding is below that, so not too shabby but a long way from a double bag - let's see what transpires from here now the offer is concrete, if other suitors see value then we could be looking a lot higher than we are now

PI's being flushed out nicely now messing their pants on a short term loss when they should be asking themselves why am I selling at 166p when a billionaire telecoms expert is buying at 178p ffs you can't make it up

So Drahi buying at 178.4p and market now valuing BT currently as I type at 166p - market completely rigged imo - regardless of what the gov says - Drahi knows full well that BT is not valued correctly and yet it is mercilessly marked down

Personally I am hoping SGC walk away from talks tomorrow regardless of what is offered unless it is over a pound - share will probably bomb and I will add to my holding - always been a long term investment for me over a 1 year minimum period or however long it takes for me to double bag - the share on fundamentals alone is worth north of 1 pound - NEX know that and so do other suiters down the line - dyor etc

EC - information to date is Omicron is less severe than Delta - yes it spreads quicker but the bottom line here is how many people die or go to hospital - dyor etc

EC - I am more worried about inflation than Omicron - markets agree with me atm so no big sell off as you predicted - you have sold MKS when two major fund managers have bought back loaned stock to go long - brave call that matey - dyor etc
