benny - never said odx was a70p dead duck. Have repeatedly said that ODX has a very good portfolio - in the right hands they could still do well..but it needs a change of ceo.

unfortunately for odx - due to inaction and incompetence last year they are now just waiting for the pot to boil - approvals . and are in a long list along with other companies who quite probably are regularly chasing up the process.

we were told there would be a feasibility study for applying for self test approval in us on 25th Nov. I wonder how long colin will drag that out? if he wants to apply there is no point waiting until the pandemic is over or the market is flooded already

it is a good opportunity to turn defence into offence....create more anti gov policy rhetoric in disguise as defending their position.

there needs to be a response to the slur on the lack of quality of uk tests. we were told odx had "gold standard".

asher - we already know that previously they had plans to stop free tests in april - before omicron came along. the free tests have been a huge factor in stopping another lockdown. be under no doubt that as soon as they can they will stop them.

omicron and the move into spring could potentially bring numbers down - if it does then i can see end of free tests by the summer. everything could depend on the next variant

asher - i agree with gov site - i have tried several times today to get some without any luck. in the end got a code but there is a serious lack in local pharmacies. it is time to stock up

bankrupbrit - depends what kind of lifestyle you lead. I have a hobby that requires a lft before every event i attend. so i am using a lot more than before. t
the flow flex nasal only swab is also much easier than the throat swab - as i have a bad gag reflex. which previously made me reluctant to do the old innova ones.

i can't see how any one can predict what is going to happen with covid. omicron could burn it out in 6 months - but what about the next variant. less severe than omicron and we could see light at the end of the tunnel. more severe and we go back a step.

the gov will stop free supply asap. my feeling is that with their recent large purchase it has signalled the end of this route for odx. if they get uk/eu self test approval then it will be up to them to sell in the market place- but they are going to be up against competition with cheaper tests and a more slick sales team. colin needs to be replaced before this opportunity disappears as well.

i am not sure people would pay for a cold/flu lft. We usually just get on with it. if the next variant is less severe than omicron that will be interesting if free gov tests will be so available - we know they want to stop the issue

i could definitely see lft for blood work and self diagnosis of certain conditions

good article. i am sure lft is here to stay and will be a game changer for a lot of diagnostics in the future. the hiv test a case in point - and really this should be being sold in much higher quantities than odx are currently managing

I am angry at the gov - they should have supported the uk industry as a whole. BUT lets face it ODX should not have just been relying on this contract. on the surface it looks like they did nothing from feb - jun and then decided to apply for eu approvals. that was valuable time lost. they needed to strike while the iron was hot and there was not so much competition. they had the product now they have to compete with other companies who not only have product but the ability and desire to sell

odx need to be able to do the one thing they cant do - sell. there was the supposedly big launch at beginning of May that nobody heard anything of - and they had to pay another company to get the DAM contract.

they have never sold anything on significance even though they have a very good portfolio. i mean if you can't sell hiv test then one has to have serious question marks - never mind lft in a pandemic.

if a certain sloth king does not want to be a "scapegoat" he really needs to step up to the plate. a poster on here commented about low level staff - and looking at the salaries offered there might be some merit in that. the proof reader should be sacked going on the Q&A

I think the best rns we could get next would be colin leaves to concentrate on his fiddling - but it won't happen. although he does seem to have woken up to the fact that he can blame the gov for his failures
