Pancakes et al29 Mar 2024 15:51
So THG launched pancakes in all Morrisons stores the other day not long after the Jimmies coffee announcement , these products have quite a long development time, dependant upon ingredients, degree of difficulty to prepare and create as well as taste and i am sure many other factors. ( I seem to recall that the initial trialling and testing lasts in the years rather than months)
For interest i had a count up on Iceland website of THG / Iceland products 48 products altogether, some quite complex so taking longer to create and gain approval, some single products IE cheese but nevertheless still needing plenty of time for development , tasting and approval.
So if we include the two mentioned THG have 50 products for sale.
The deal with Iceland was a 5 year deal with Iceland having exclusive in their territories with THG having the right to make and sell elsewhere.
It took say 2/3 years to get going with Iceland from initial approach to launch of first products , six or eight i think, now there is 48 available on line.
I would have thought that initial serious discussions with an Iceland equivalent, say in America, would have started about 1 year ago, so perhaps we are getting closer to an overseas launch of these products.
Certainly although the sales of said products are limited by the fact that they are mainly only available in Iceland, if a major took them up in America then who knows where it will go.
Overall i think THG would have dropped the idea if sales weren’t happening, i think, hopefully, that we could see these products being made available somewhere else in the world perhaps this year.
I remain very optimistic about THG and I remain very positive about MM as i am sure the company would be broken up and parts of it doing very well for PE if a more conventional owner /manager was in charge.
As Ever, GL to all
