I think that his description of trading this year compared to last year helps explain the numbers regarding searches that Golden posted.
He said last year, more frenetic , focus on quantity , buying across multiple brands. less discerning,
This year , more measured . focusing on quality and beloved brands, more focused but still looking for discounts.

IN my minds eye i can hear the customers saying to themselves ," stop buying all that stuff you don't know and end up not really liking and just buy what you know and like, and see if you can get a deal”
Personally i have been doing that with my wine, I like wine and like to experiment a bit, but or the last 3 months i am buying what i know and like. and waiting for the 25% off offers and buying plenty when those offers arrive. So tracking my searches for wine would show big decrease but my spend is the same really.Same thing really.
AS long as THG have the beloved brands and are front and centre with the customer, then we should see good numbers.
