The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Bolgas I not sure what experience you have on large scale installation at surface level you would be looking at least 500k in foundation work to support these units. If you go underground the cost could easily rise by 300% depending on soil types and depth. Most established sites dont have sufficient space to house these units to provide enough capacity because all available space will be occupied by the solar panel. The best option is at wind farms sites particular in remote areas to reduce visual planning issues. However as stated these units are large and heavy and most large wind scale plants are based at altitude which makes access very difficult.
Whilst I am an investor, as the UK start to take battery storage seriously, size and capacity are everything based on the current Solar and Windfarms generating at 40MW +. This is medium power generation and the largest 6 - 300 Redt unit has a storage capacity of 300kwh at 60kw feed in and weighs 30 tons. You would need at least 40 units to provide anything near a usable storage unit to make this grid viable. Single stacked thats a foot print of 15m2 x 30 =450m2. You need to add operational working and safety fencing area you would be looking at 1000m2. This would require planning permission and high foundation costs to support the units at remote site. Comments please
I mentioned this issue last week. The units are too large at the moment. Most solar and wind farms a have available space but to provide any serious load shifting capability would require a 20MWH to supply the 6.00PM peak power demand. With the current capacity you would require a very large foot print and probably hit town planning issues.
This size of unit for 2MWh is real problem. The lithium based systems have a footprint of 1 shipping container for 2MWh unit. If REDt is looking for several containers then planning permission would be required on the average solar site. Another point the next generation of solar and wind farms are at least 30MW generation. Obviously an array of REDt units for load shifting would be enormous on generator sites of this size. As a result I can only see the REDt units suitable for medium size factories and domestic use. Feed back please
Hi I am already in REDT. Now want to look at investing more. A couple of tech questions. What is the foot print of a 2 MW/ Hour unit. How long does it take to charge.
A steady supply of buys going in expecting a steady rise to 12p mid-next week.
Some big sells just gone through totalling over 600,000 shares although there are a number of buys they are relatively small. We could be in for slight reduction
AMEC just received a winding up notice from National Grid.
Marc Boulter I used to work for the guy good help them
Having worked along side this company in the UK and abroad this company is without doubt in a complete mess from the executive down and the staff up. BBY was once a great UK Company. Parts of the company are in good shape with modern management and and highly trained staff but there are too many other parts in a complete mess, driving a poor culture. The city sees this and so do the shrewd share holders. The new management are no doubt well connected but its too late to turn around, particularly when there are a number of other companies in the UK recruiting at the moment. A break up and buy out is the only option.
The new CEO starts in January he will be bringing in a top team and the share price is well below the market value. BB is also employing experienced staff at every level. My prediction is at least £2,90 in 2015,
The market is pushing the SP down awaiting the JLIF decision, no doubt this is going to increase significantly £2.25 by mid - January 2015
I was a bit confused on the rights issue. I understand it as follows; I had approx £29k in shares these dropped to a value of £6k over night, shock! I was then issued approc 280,000 rights issue at 10p each. This means you must invest more money to have a chance of making money. I purchased another £18k which totalled another 180,000 shares. These are now trading at 12p each so instant 20% increase. The remainder of the rights shares are availbe at around 1.4p for the 100000 shares these must be traded by 28th otherwise you may loose them or recieve a possible, not gurented, buy back. All in all a medium risk, however I think with the high number of shares muliplied by a small increase this could be a big winner
