@Saby - would you expect the price of gold/copper to be the only variable determining the SP for mining companies in those sectors? Commodity price cycles will always be a factor for sure but never the only one. Obviously it’s not a direct comparison but your decision will presumably take account of researching a company’s management/governance, prospecting and diversification options, technology investments, energy costs, and profitability too.

Whether right or wrong, thank goodness for some rationality among the nonsense :-)

@Highveld - if you had done any research you’d know that ARB is about blockchain not just about BTC, it’s profitable, sustainable, able to diversify and becoming a market leader. It’s also undervalued. Hence very ‘investable’ and not just tradable.

@Cyclist - why did you think that? It seemed fairly clear that the SP was being consistently suppressed by some major short trading effects. When that stopped it rose as expected, overheated and then stabilised today. Likely it will rise further now, although it’s always going to be a bumpy ride until more institutional investors are committed long.

@Topdog - I guess no-one can easily make that decision for you. It would depend a lot on what your goals are, whether you're hoping for a quick trading profit or a longer investment return, as growth or/and future income, whether this is a stock you plan to add to incrementally with a moving average or as a one-off buy. I think everyone who's holding shares now believes they are worth holding and it certainly looks like a good investment on paper for well-run and highly profitable business that's both a proven innovator and becoming a sector leader. But it's too volatile a stock to put your life savings on if you need that money back by a deadline. Good luck!

It’s exactly where it was this day last month, what’s the problem?

Momentum was pointing to maybe GBP1.84-1.88 after close, roughly where it's trading in USD. Lots of settlements for end of the month etc. SP is up more than 25% in three days, it's Friday tomorrow, sun is shining outside. It's all good.

USD2.77 just catches up to London @ GBP200

GBP200 translates to USD2.77, which is also roughly where the market makers are starting there
GBP210 is around USD2.90+

I suppose the more serious point is that ARB was still a speculative punt rather than an investable business until December 2020. Anyone who got in before then did very well indeed but largely by placing a lucky bet (well done!). Business focused investors come in later, when there's a sound basis to do so, and will have avoided a lot of sleepless nights if they saw that opportunity between GBP100-200. But the future looks bright for everyone who's prepared to hold, even if they came in higher.

It wasn't the Texas announcement that 'pushed the SP sooooo high', it was the exhaustion of the big seller and fulfilment of short positions. The SP was artificially depressed by the trading. The next set of news will likely have positive effect too but the business fundamentals are obvious, with or without it. The wide NP/GP margin alone makes it highly profitable even if the BTC price wobbles significantly. The new investment in production/productivity only strengthens that. If it was just an old fashioned copper/gold mining business with the same fundamentals investors would be queuing up to hold it long at GBP280-290 no problem. All you're seeing in the SP is noise, traders not investors. ARB is a good business in the painful process of moving from a traded stock to an investment stock. NASDAQ might help stabilise the SP if it spreads the investment base to larger institutions.
