In fact I think it is already lined up with UK gov saying it will know in just a couple of days what the impact overall is of the Indian variant wrt to vaccine efficacy and transmissibility. Might see local lockdowns in couple of areas but new green zones on UK list by end of week.

EU releasing which countries it will accept travellers from based on vaccination profile. Leaked that 19th would be big announcement date and I believe this is the big story

I can not see how the UK gov can hold out to 9th June with announcement adding more of EU to UK green list, especially as EU still calling the shots with many Europhiles. Expect intense media 'pressure' to follow EU lead.

I'm expecting a 10% jump in Easy J when the EU puts UK on its green list which should be announced tomorrow. I suspect that the UK will be put under very significant pressure to change EU countries to green immediately. The UK amber list wrt EU will become academic as most travellers will simply say they can easily self-isolate on return, for a month if they had to. For IAG, US is perhaps going to have to wait longer but there will be some pick up for EU flights.

This is the big news from EU to be announced I think. However, things are going to be muted in response unless the return leg testing is reduced or removed. If the EU is accepting vaccinated travellers without tests, then it is going to be quite ridiculous for the UK to not accept returning travellers unless they test. I have complained before that despite our independence now in the UK too much of our policy is still under the diktat of what Europe wants, and I expect this is the case again. In fact we were probably told to put Portugal on our green list to allow assessment of travel systems before opening up under EU direction the destinations it allows. And all along through this the EU maintains its former policy of inward looking, isolationism and keeping the iron curtain firmly in place - i.e. the US is excluded again.

Up one day, down the next, then back up.

Great for marginal day trading, not enough deviation for me though. I'm waiting to see what the big announcement from EU is tomorrow assuming the Portuguese minister was right when leaking the big announcement news. Will the UK respond and do nothing?

Nothing much on the open, marking time. 19th is a key day if the Portuguese minister on R4 Saturday is correct, big day opening up EU destinations. Whether Downing St will react to pressure to open up countries ahead of June is to be seen. However, how much of this Indian variant is going to be used as a way to keep lockdown and travel lockdown going is also a question. Remember, it is going to be difficult for some people in position to let go the power to control and will use spurious evidence to keep control. Something in the back of my mind is telling me there is a degree of fakery about the Indian variant. We've heard it all before but have widespread vaccination this time. Can't put my finger on it.

I have posted I expect every single seat made available to be filled whatever the class. Also, I am not aware that Norwegian have let any of their slots or lh aircraft go. All the predictions of changes to lifestyle, everybody doing everything online and so on, I had have always rejected. As I have said before, video conferencing has been around long before the world wide web and even with the world wide web and smart phones was only a small part of human interaction IN ADDITION to person to person contact. When true full opening up returns, every single seat will be full even when every available aeroplane is up in the air. A lot of people who had half a mind to travel before but just didn't get round to it have felt a sense of isolation without the freedom to travel. Now, those people will not put it off and will make more determined efforts to actually go exploring, visiting and experiencing. It's like the chocolate bar in shop. It's there, you know it's there and you can go along any time and get one and because of that it falls from your prime sight. Take it away from the shop and make it unavailable and suddenly you miss it and want it. The moment it is back, you pig out and vow never to take it for granted again and get a regular fill.

boselecta, there is a lot on the propaganda side trying to scare certain communities to take up vaccination offers. So far in certain communities that are not identified because of the woke culture and inevitable ****** allegations, the vaccine take up has been very poor due to attitudes of self-imposed segregation which, precovid, became the established norm and 'countries within countries' largely went about their separate lives co-existing side-by-side and mostly a peaceful arrangement. The pandemic has revealed these boundaries to be very deep and a big problem in trying to establish the social distance rules and then the need for full vaccination compliance. It has been a problem just under the reporting radar as a very sensitive issue. If this more full on approach drawing on the direct observations in India doesn't result in a better vaccination take up, then some communities are going to find themselves being cut-off and road blocked and eventually forced to take up vaccinations. You've got to tread on egg shells with this one but no amount of racial rhetoric is going to protect those communities from a killer virus.

Just announced by Portuguese minister on R4, UK to be put on EU green list May 19th. I will expect massive pressure to move parts of UK amber to UK green list under instructions from EU.

Strong probability that early next week could be a significant profit taking opportunity. Vacc passport still being developed.

Looks like I am 3p off the 200+ prediction so that just goes to show what an utterly useless pundit I am.
