RE: Robby's lucky 7s25 May 2021 10:21
IAG a nose ahead in the Easy J IAG race this am. I am still betting EU news first, US news second and that Easy J will spike first.
My analysis of statements coming out of Downing St indicate that the 'firm' and continuos statements are not so much an affirmation of current policy, more the kind of 'keep it in the news opinion' statements that one or other lobby group does in order to mollify the other lobby from being able to promote the alternative view. This is a fluid policy however and although the free travel lobby isn't in control of the news release narrative at the moment, the actual narrative comes across as a bit weak and incomplete - almost to the extent that the position is allowed in order to placate the lockdown lobby for the moment, so you know where they are and what they are saying. Consider the reaction to the news that Spain is allowing UK visitors without screening. The government response is a mere restating of the amber guidelines and the term 'be patient a little while longer' being used a lot. There is no move to restrict actual travel to Spain in response. So I get the strong indication there is treading of water, buying time, for a few days.
As I said before, the most likely scenario is a firm date being leaked about when the islands at least will be placed on a green list, or even a new category being created for local isolated areas like the Canaries. The open up lobby will win because that is where the votes are!
