If the spikes in EZJ can go to 1020 with no news, then I could be jumping out at 1070+ with some good news on EU routes, Hopefully then switch all in to IAG maybe sub 215 before the US opening, whether that be within weeks of switching or months. Back to looking at new substantial fridges!!

What possible health reasons are there against being vaccinated? When an organised lobby is taken out into the public domain, it usually means the argument is being lost inside Downing St. It is believed that if a narrative is splashed all over the media, the idiot politicians are obliged to play along. This really faded away in most part at the end of Blair's days after it was realised there was no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, there was no rose tinted alternative. For the Hartlepool by-election, Labour tried dredging up the old sleaze format that had served Blair well. It back fired in spectacular fashion since most of the electorate has learned that Labour could be as a bad - indeed a great deal worse. The lockdown lobby will fight back and they have the mass media with them for some reason [probably because it goes against what Boris is perceived to want] so there is still buckets of shi.t ready to hit the fan.

The anti-lockdown lobby seems to be in the ascendency within Downing St at the moment, but it means nothing if the US is not on board. We don't want another green list with with countries listed that won't accept UK visitors.

there is however a mass media backed push by non-entities with names and positions to delay freedom day. I noticed the other day BBC presenting a member of sage making a strong argument, but then noticed the name caption actually showed she was from the 'alternative' sage not the official one. There are I think two members of the proper sage doing the rounds promoting there extended delay to 21st June speaking supposedly as private people but their association is heavily promoted. In fact, the more you look at the more the coordination of the lobby in the public domain is apparent. They must be loosing the battle inside Downing street and are now trying the arm twist through the media. Noticeable how silent various ministers are and those speaking sticking to the line tightly on everything is under review as before.

As for the US and the transatlantic flights, I am not hearing proactive messages or hints that the UK will be welcome. I am getting a little concerned that the UK ends up putting the US on the UK green list and US carriers start arriving, but it isn't reciprocated. As ever, only listening to what the americans are saying on that one.

With IAG now moving ahead of Easy J (again like last week) I might miss out again on the great switcharoo... but I am hopeful for a leak that the islands are on definitely on the UK green list so Easy J can spike and I can get into IAG when it dips on negative transatlantic news.

I am coming to the same opinion Drunk, for IAG it is the US routes. I think there is a probability that domestic politics in the US will delay the US opening up travel from the UK, whether the UK puts the US on its green list or not. I think it will be more about announcing potential travel opening dates than being able to actually travel.

I am expecting the short haul islands in the med and Atlantic to be put of the green list but those countries maybe introducing enhanced testing in some way and people having to be prepared to be quarantined at the airport or something similar. The islands should have been on the list from the start though.

Progress? Not sure. Just because the BBC continues as the prime mouth piece for your ideology which can only exist by oppressing people if they do not agree with you, doesn't mean that the real world follows. This is about peoples money, their hard earned cash. Political woke correctness cost money and by definition requires people to loose. You shouldn't be too surprised to learn few follow your word. Go and stick your money in some eco project somewhere, just before they tear down a rainforest and displace populations in the cause of veganism land for crops, or biofuel, forests in to palm oil, or the next one wiping out landscapes trying to find to Lithium.

i would argue too many of the scientists have been too pedantic insisting on at lrast two weeks to validate conjectures. Have the politicians been too reluctant to be independent? Have the scientists been too distant from the politics?
One think is for certain, hindsight is going to dominate the inquest!

Why would holiday's be banned? Most countries expect a clean test before arrival. If that is the new rule, variant = no travel then that is it, wrap up the last of the aircraft and back to travelling no further than one hour horse ride per day. Covid is part of the human landscape now, just like all the regular ailments it is now a matter of managing to live with it. Governments around the world should have started equating covid impact alongside other issues such as daily statistics of RTA injuries and deaths, heart attacks and obesity relation, hospitalisation and deaths from allergic reactions, repository deaths - all set alongside covid numbers. The perspective will then be clear. Instead we are backing ourselves into a corner expecting the eradication of a highly transmissible virus before opening up fully. That eradication can no more be delivered for covid as for flu. There are too many cook in the kitchen now!!!

groots, at least you have 30 years to look forward to, some of us grumpy old buggers on here won't see half of that.

Looking like normal service resumed with Easy J moving ahead faster than IAG which has been the usual pattern over the last months. This puts my master plan to rule the universe from a wicker chair back on plan. But how far will Easy Jet go? When to dump Easy and pile all in to IAG? So easy to be on the wrong side here. If the Sun is to be believed, then could the opening up of transatlantic routes on the green list be announced before European routes going green? Fundamentally I will listen only to what comes out of the American administration and the comments so far are merely diplomatic. Could change in the next 5 mins of course. Place your bets!!

Of big concern for global carriers like IAG. Russian shutting airspace access. There will be very severe complications if Eastward long haul cannot use Russian airspace. They have restricted Air France and Austria. This could escalate and be a major issue given the issue is a a high level political stand-off.

You are the exact audience Cummings was addressing and aiming to provide the rhetoric for you and those in the same circumstance to then use to attack the government doing the retaliation damage Cummings has set out to do. I am no fan of a lot of government, whatever the colour. I can't stand the waste, incompetence, vanity, petty politics and that extends deep into the media too. But the pandemic has been an issue where nobody was ever going to get it right and the game has been to keep the damage to a minimum. In fact to claim people made 'mistakes' is a bit aggressive since this was a completely unique situation. The opposition has been quite fair to date not turning to hindsight to make trouble although parts of our media have been straining at the leash. If we descend to a muck slinging level accusing ministers of corporate manslaughter when trying to deal with a killer pandemic with the resources available at the time then we will completely fail to learn in a constructive manner to be prepared for dealing with similar events in the future.

Cummings was very aware and conscious of which buttons he was pressing which I find his use of the victims of the pandemic to serve is vengeful purposes particularly disgusting.

Cummings went so far, it starts to get a little incredible. Ching ching book deal!!! Of course the government got it wrong in parts. The pandemic situation guarantees nobody would get it right. Unfortunately we don't have a culture which tolerates making the best out of a bad situation. Or do we? I think when he came out with the 10,000 died because of direct government mistakes, he was playing to the relatives to wind them up in a feeding frenzy to do his bidding at creating retaliation for him being wronged [as he sees it]. He went too far with that and will probably get a long term backlash in return. And he way over the top with Hancoc.k.

A word comes to mind with Cummings. Megalomania. I suspect he became far too big for his boots and expected people to do his bidding without question. Maybe one mistake Boris made was to stick by him on the road trip when the warning signs about the megalomania were beginning. Certainly it became so disruptive within Downing St he was booted out. The current wars over travel lockdown/opening are most likely still echoes of his influence setting people against each other. I suspect he met with his biggest resistance with Hancoc.k and never managed to influence, bully or manipulate Hancoc.k and that is why he has such a hatred of the man.

There will be a few stirrers and trouble makers within Downing St and the government each trying to get their way and impose on the narrative and agenda about of pure vanity and office politics. Has and always will be a part of any administration, democratic or not anywhere in the world.

Watch the backlash against Cummings when the book deal and documentary series on pay-per-view is announced. He will be savaged with only the BBC backing him up.

I remember the 'herd immunity' debates. I remember the BBC badgering every interviewee to criticise the government for not putting it into policy. I remember after a week of intense questioning of many boffins one of them being very firm and saying the subject was only raised in an academic sense based on media questions and being quite forthright telling the interviewer on the BBC to drop it for good. It faded away over the next couple of days. A very different recollection from Cummings, but then again and don't need headline fluff to sell a book!!!!
