This is a decent extension on the problem with the paint and Qatar Airbus spat. Important because Qatar has influence within IAG and there are a lot of aircraft on order from Airbus. If this blows up out of control there could be far reaching consequences. As you will not there is a significant political involvement so my comment about the EU wrt this issue is very pertinent.

FED will report between 2 and 2.30 ET, so after UK market closes. This is based on previous releases of info. So the big problem is whether you will be locked in with starry eyes as the sp is back to the start of January, only to see it wiped out 1st thing tomorrow morning. Or, the restoration of the sp will be help and normal service resumes and the sp goes back to little jumps up based on little bits of news.

I don't think omicron infection rates published by Imperial college are having any market effect. I would imagine all the worlds traders have actually learned to dismiss and ignore them. The government certainly has. Those trying to keep the pandemic going are resorting to more twisting of numbers and inventing new methods of counting.

The fed meeting has been the big one as it turns out with the Ukraine situation also having an effect.

Remember that the iis that can swing the market hedge in both directions. We will have the fed results latter and I will be expecting the current return to the levels of last week to be maintained. Then the Ukraine situation comes into play but I see that fizzling out over a couple of weeks. The dominant impact on sp for the sector should return to more and more stories of restrictions being removed and the ending of testing (US the big one). Following that we need clear statements globally that international travel lockdowns will not return with new variants as they are useless.

Fed rumours positive for market, Ukraine situation now entering end game as the nato stance solidifies ready to take on an invasion. Putin just now needs maximise the de-escalation deal - until the next time in a few years.

Remove the tests, removes the impediment to travel. As the countries of the world are doing their own thing in response to omicron and just plain ignoring all the validated data available, the opening up will happen but it is going to be strung out and take months. The BIG preflight test to be withdrawn will be the US. When that happens, watch long haul bookings leap 50% at least.

Show me one, just one, interest rate on any savings account that will beat a day trade 5% rise? Most savings accounts have no measurable interest rate at the moment. Money may move between sectors, between metals, between oil - but the idea people are going to dump stocks for savings with a mere 0.25% or 0.5% max increase on the base rate compare to even a modest return day trading, who precisely is 'deluded'?

More voices pushing towards convergence of rules and noting that travel restrictions are not of any use.
