Yes, I have seen that when Chinese tourists are in London. They are told, but many continue anyway. It would simply not be tolerated on any western cruise ship. Hygiene has been dramatically improved since Covid.

I get just as jittery when the SP jumps as when it falls.

It does sound like it was a planned dry-docking and passengers will have missed out on Lisbon. I would happily do that as Cadiz is a lovely city.

As ever, sp has lost all its gains from earlier in the day soon after the NYSE opened!

It does feel like there is some manipulation going on, although how, why and by whom is totally unclear.

That is great to hear - we are due on Arcadia in May. Lovely ship and it sounds like crewing issue are recovering, if not sorted now.

I do agree that the media will only report what sells “newspapers”. I note Horult’s report from parents!

I also have a concern about the Chinese being “let out”. It would introduce a new wave since they have had no really effective vaccine and pretty low take up. I think we should insist on a negative test at point of entry. That would not affect cruising, of course.

I wonder if the cruise lines are thinking if reintroducing a -ve test rule of some kind?

I agree with most of what you say except the share price cannot go to zero while the company has net assets. They would cease trading before that, anyway, but, as you say, bookings are so strong, not just here but across all 10 brands that whilst I am annoyed at those who play the share price, minute by minute it seems, since my average is just below £8, I have to hang in there.

I promise not to start ramping, though!

I agree with botbot about the price manipulators.

The shorts have reduced to just two at less than 2% of the total uk shares in issue which is a good sign.

Like many, I have to ignore the daily swings and look to the future which, according to Wednesday’s numbers, does look much healthier than a year ago. Having said that, the share price then was over £12, which just doesn’t make sense.

You don’t do your credibility any good when quote incorrect numbers - the low point was less than £4.83 just after the last quarter numbers released in September.

The latest release is certainly more positive than the previous one. Cannot access the simulcast though - irritating.

My average is around 7.90 so I shall be hangin’ in there, too!

Talkingsense, fuel charges are one of the least of CC’s problems as HFO prices are falling. Their newer ships are more efficient and they are investigating ways of improving consumption for the older ones. I think they decided that conversion to LFO was too expensive and they will introduce some kind of scrubber to reduce emissions.

Their biggest cost, by far, is staff. It appears that they had reduced numbers on my last cruise but I was told they are trying to recruit. They even took one ship out of service for a short time to redeploy staff.

By all accounts, FCC is pretty much washed through, and bookings are now exceeding 2019 (pre-covid) levels, e.g. cyber Monday. The latest Q numbers are out tomorrow. I intend to try to listen to the simulcast on their American website - it will be interesting to see if the analysts give the senior management such an easy rude as last time when the results tanked the share price.

Indeed - thanks Nobby. I hadn’t realised the FTSE 100 is down nearly 100 points, too. But that, of course, is driven by what’s happening to the share prices of the constituent companies.

My guess is that a lot of it will be due to the BoE action yesterday. The £ is holding up well against the $ - especially when compare to where it was just after the catastrophe, sorry!, mini budget.

The shorters haven’t changed their positions so the total is less than 2.5% of the UK shares in issue and 12 months ago, when prospects were not as good as they are now, debt was at the same level (and some debt has been refinanced at lower, fixed interest) the share price was over £14.

Since my average is £8, my fingernails might be worn down over the next few months waiting for the hoped-for uptick. Also hoping the results on 21st will be better than expected/predicted.
