Unfortunately, past experience seems to indicate that the share price behaves in the opposite way to petrol prices which go up like a rocket and come down like a feather, i.e. down like a brick and up like a something or other.

The three shorters, who hold just 2.5% of the shares in issue, all reduced their positions over the last month or so.

There is another thread where an employee reckons everyone is very positive about trading and that the SP will go above £8.

I am sure it will but, sir, bearing in mind the warning below…….. I know you haven’t posted anything unknown, only an opinion.

The long-term prospects for Carnival and other travel companies appears to be a lot less gloomy than a month or two ago. A year ago, when the prospects looked worse and debt was ballooning, the share price was more than double its current level. Some of us are convinced that there has been manipulation but by whom, how and why remain unanswered.

No point in worrying, anyway. As my solicitor friend said to me a long time ago, “there are two ways of dealing with this loan - you can pay it back, or you can worry about it…….and still pay it back”.

We, too, have not had either Covid or Noro on a ship or elsewhere. But as Th said, Noro is extremely contagious. We do click and collect shopping and still wipe everything over with diluted bleach before storing. Paranoid or what?

BTW, just because I am paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get me……

My apologies if I have done folk down unjustly. My own experience, at a time when hand and other hygienes were newly introduced, there were staff at strategic points offering a ‘personal squirt”. Time after time, people just walked past. The staff could not force them, of course.

I hope things have changed! We don’t go again until May, on Arcadia.

Last time out, August, we had Covid on the ship.

Norovirus is the scourge of cruise ships and any other holiday destination, come to that. It is nasty and very easily transmitted as it requires stringent hygiene habits - hand washing, mainly, which we are not very good/hopeless at.

It will have been brought on board by a passenger, possibly from a previous port call.

People also fib wildly as they are desperate to go on holiday. It is just so selfish. How else do these outbreaks happen?

Anyway, rant over. Most folk we have ever met on a ship are great!

Just to add that Qube Tech opened a new short position a day or two ago but total shares shorted are still less than 3%. Shouldn’t have much effect.

The FTSE is going bonkers at way over 7,800 and the £ buys $1.23 although dropped against the €. No idea what’s behind that.

Any idea why the FTSE is so buoyant? With all the post pandemic gloom, the cost of living etc….

I know retailers had a bit of an unexpected upswing but what else is driving it.

On my HL site, the. CL share price goes up and down by the second.

I’ve been told not to rely on the share trades shown on here because a) the overwhelming majority are “Automatic” and b) for every “sell” there will be a “buy” because of the way the SETS - Stock Exchange Trade System - works. It is worth a Google. If you look at the trades post closing time you will always see a very large trade marked “UT”. These are all the shares that were to be sold/bought but had not been because there was no price match. They are then all dealt with as a bloc and possibly at a price that would have been disadvantageous to many because of the way the sale/purchase was specified.

Beyond me. I just buy/sell online. I look for a share and get 15 seconds to decide if I like the price.

Aware, possibly, Ken, rather than wary because my average is £8, roughly, so I am in for the long haul. Jus5 have to accept the volatility. Feel very sorry for the guy I met on the last cruise who bought in at £48. ??

As long as they get their staffing/crewing sorted out, I would expect them to from strength to strength - albeit slowly! Give it a year, I reckon, without any further pandemics, inflation crises etc and it should be ok.

We are in North Hampshire (clue in my handle on here) so only half an hour taxi ride away from the port.

We book through NatWest Travel since we bank with them. It gets us 5% off he price.

Carnival, in the UK that is P & O, Cunard and Princess, don’t do river cruises. As
Ken says, your OBC as a shareholder applies on each.

We are a bit more sedate, maybe being well over 70 has something to do with it!, but Acadia and Aurora are adults only. Don’t get me wrong, I do like children but can no longer manage a whole one.

I do hope you find something that suits you and your wife. BTW, Saga do river cruises.

We, too, don’t like the idea of a “mega ship”. Trouble is, it depends on what you think is mega.

Our favourite P & O ship is Arcadia d which can take approx 2,000 PAX. That said, there is plenty of room even when full.

If you want a smaller ship, plenty of lines have ships around 900., Fred Olsen, Saga, Norwegian.

Slow but steady improvement is what I am seeing. Carnival look to be going in the right direction. Did you see the interview with Paul Ludlow, President of P & O, on BBC South Today last week? I can say only two things: we got a lot of corporate speak about what a great ship Arvia is with no answers or apology for what happened on the maiden voyage (if sounds like they tried to make up for Christmas problems with a New Year bash to remember. I suspect that passengers might have got some extra OBS as compensation. You said your parents were on that, Topo - what actually happened? The other thing is that PL might have overdone the teeth whitening. He looks only to be about 12 yo anyway.
