Last time it touched this level was about 6 months ago then dipped below £7 shortly after. I am hoping this does not repeat. Q2 results due in a couple of weeks and I would hope they consolidate the position. This uptick must be due to more than sentiment. I hope the shorters are bricking it.

One problem, a nice to have, in a way was that we ended up with over £1,100 OBC and simply could not spend it all - we came away with £200, or, nothing, really since, as the saying goes, you can’t take it with you”.

We have not tried Cunard but might possibly be leaning towards it.

I guess we are a bit “stick with what we know” these days. How do you get on with “class distinction” BJ? It seems more accentuated from what I have heard. Hardly exists on P & O. Very little preferential treatment for suite/mini suite dwellers. Butler has hardly anything to do so they will probably go next year and canapés used to be every evening before dinner. Now only on a formal night.

BJ, whilst I have moaned about cutbacks on Arcadia, the food was better this time than our last cruise in August last year. My wife has a dietary restriction and they worked a bit harder this time and there was no “we cannot let you have that, madam, as it was not prepared on the ship”. So, either they have better guarantees from their suppliers or more prep has been done on board from raw. She has never had a problem after any meal. We never use the buffet, though.

The more I hear about P & O, the less I am thinking of their product.

Maybe my letter to Mr Ludlow will make a difference. Oops, nearly didn’t see that pig flying past.

Hi Bot,

I not only read the Outputs fro Carnival, I listen to the simulcast/webinar that the CEO & CFO do. It makes for interesting, sometimes amusing, listening. The questions from analysts/brokers are a bit of a laugh or a bit sad depending on your mood - questions seem to be designed to show off the questioner’s knowledge than actually elicit additional, valuable information.

SP currently hovering just below £9. As you say, last time it pushed through this level it then dropped to £7. Hopefully, the Q2 results will prevent that. I think they do need to come up with a concrete plan to pay down some of the debt. It is going to take a year or two, mind. Despite our misgivings about the last cruise, Princess seem to have a major marketing push on. If that is the case, why not for P & O? They did, after all, recently take on a number of sales staff in the North of England.

I don’t begin to understand this Bot but if the share price is $90, that is just ridiculous (sorry, that’s twice I’ve used that word today).

I also thought Carnival’s assets were over $75bn.

Oh well, have to be satisfied with a 2% gain - especially when I expected a drop.

K, what or who is Vod? I see PREM is perking up a bit, too.

NatWest bank is doing the opposite. You’d expect their SP to be going up, especially as they’re buying back shares from the Treasury but, no, wobbling around is what they’re doing.

Take on board (!) all you’ve said and agree with most. The buffet thing is just odd, especially about the trays. It was definitely self-service when we left Soton but after about three days it changed to served, owning to the Acute Gastroenteritis outbreak (apparently later said to be Norovirus) and stayed that way - I’m told, we never use it! Problem for me is the same as the lady overheard saying “Gordon, you’ve got eyes bigger than your………oh, maybe you haven’t!”

Stick with it Bot - who knows where it will be in two years?
