Looking at the Tesco method no benefit to shareholders and the money stays in the firm ( no windfall)
Is that how you see it ?
But why would the share price go up between now and divi day?
Unless someone has a view

But if they reduce our holding by the divi they are paying , where is the benefit for the shareholders and what happens to the money in the firm.
The value of the firm has gone up £180m and the amount of shares gone down, so where would it go .
Unless priced in

I think the way I see it is if on the 7th jan at close you have 1000 shares and the closing price is £2 say
On the 8th you would be entitled to £320 of which they buy 160 of your shares at £2 and put it in your bank.
Then as I read it 840 shares at a new value of £2.32 !
I believe that’s right or it might be wrong.
Any other views welcome

I hope you have had a good Christmas one and all and I hope you are well.
Volumes should be interesting come Tuesday, traditionally volumes are down in the week between Christmas and new year.
But this year will be different to many bargains out there, with all the news (institutions will have there people on the case)
How we will be affected is all down to people believing we will get the money of the Indian government any time soon.
