The origin of the story is Parliament's spending watchdog, so it's in all the papers - which isn't great for us; although the SP doesn't seem to mind.

However, flicking through the Guardians story, it seems like many complaints - such as excess lab capacity, slow turnaround times, etc - will be addressed when LFT's replace PCR as the dominant mode of testing; so it feels unlikely there is a substantive risk to the program at this point.

Also has anyone seen this award to GAD for £3 million before? Published March 5th but might have been elsewhere...

- £8 Billion DPS for LFT's

BUT ALSO

- £10 Billion for LFT's/Diagnostics from a week or two ago?

And if you want to realllly get carried away: the Government have stated a desire to build a national diagnostics infrastructure capable of rapidly responding to future pandemics. Presumably, one would need industrial partners able to rapidly generate diagnostic regents for use at scale...

The volume doesn't seem very high today - but my hunch would put sells down to traders looking for budget day recovery plays which is letting a bit of pressure out of the price. I'm sure they'll be back..

Wyndrum - noted on leverage; I am well aware it's like playing with fire having burn't my fingers once before...

Knowing the general range on this stock, my strategy has generally been to make multiple smaller bets and 'ladder' them so that I only increase my exposure as the first positions come into profit with a support level between them and the next set. Given the MM's fishing trips, I don't use stops on the highest positions but place them on the lower ones in profit - this way I don't get stopped out at a loss on whim but equally if the market turns I can fully margin my losing positions and so can just HODL until it comes around again. Obviously this would be suicidal on an indices or a large cap, but works pretty well here when I am in it for the long term and means I can get a bit more out my capital.

BUT as you say, leverage leads to emotions and over trading. So my plan was working really well - until I stopped following it and took out a bunch of my positions... hence I am now fretting about entering near the top of the market!

I've got a core holding of shares I am holding tightly for the foreseeable, but I am also leveraging a separate pot on IG - so am keen to make sure the downside is limited...

Given we're potentially a week or two from significant news (in my head 2-3 weeks); chart-wise, do we see this falling back much from here?

I was wondering if you or anyone else had any thoughts on this, which I was thinking about today:

Would Avacta have to use LFT's manufactured by Mologic for clinical validation, if Mologic are to CE mark the test?

I seem to remember Al saying that the CE mark had to be based on data from the final product, would that mean that the owner of the CE mark would need to have manufactured the test before transferring the protocol to others (BBI) as an equivalence?

If so, perhaps this statement that "Avacta will immediately be able access initial manufacturing capacity through Mologic, in addition to scale-up manufacturing capacity with BBI and Abingdon Health" infers that production lines are already set up at Mologic?

In this context, Avacta and Mologic's collaboration dating back several months could be referring to the tech transfer?

If this were the case, I wonder if its possible that LFT's have been pre-manufactured ready for roll out post-CE marking?

It would make sense with Mologic CE marking to shave 4 weeks off time to market - and the anticipated reopening of schools...?

The price ticked up sharply just before close and thinking about how this ship leaks, smacked a little more onto my spread bet - and I was really struggling to buy, so maybe...

1 - IMHO yes, there are only two UK-designed 'sovereign tests; being evaluated by PHE; Avacta & Mologic. Given the unprecedented level of collaboration between the two companies, in line with the strategy outlined in the PA consulting document, it makes sense that Avacta are still deeply involved: at this late stage, the parties are stuck with each-other regardless of whether they like it, really.

2 - I wasn't surprised, NHS workers have been given boxes of tests for months for quite some time now; historically they have been Innova. We know the government has a large supply left of these and they are unlikely to go into the bin.

3 - As has been discussed to death on this board, any commercial agreements with the government are subject to strict NDA's, which can be found and read on Bidstats (in generic form). However, I though the RNS was very clear about the route and timeline to market; including multiple hints a large government contract is in the offing, such as an anticipated price point, assistance from Public Health England and phrases like 'we expect the principle demand to be from governments'.

Hope that helps, personally I have never been happier to hold this stock than I am today!

@Robotics - It's not 100% clear from the conversation I had I'm afraid, but I get the distinct impression Porton Down are overseeing it as PHE are currently evaluating both.

And yes, that's my thinking - I think any British company which performs will get a slice of the pie as part of strategic state support to the diagnostics industry.
