Soooo....
I spoke to a friend over the last few days - whose job it is to *know* about recent developments - and they spoke to someone whose job it is to *develop* recent developments. The titbits of our conversation are below:
For obvious reasons, I cannot disclose where or how I heard the following, so I can only suggest you read my posting history over the last eight months and draw your own conclusions. FWIW, I am 95% confident in the accuracy of the below - discounting 5% to being lost in translation and/or not religiously believing everything I hear.
However, with an average price of £1.50 for my holding (D'oh!) and the sophistication to understand this BB will not swing the market capitalization up by £45,500,000 off the back of this one post, I trust irregular readers of this hellhole will take the following in good faith...
As I understand it:
- The UK-Rapid Antigen Test Consortium definitively consists of the following members (incidentally: inline with 'Mologic Director's Daughter (MDD herein) twitter posts that 5 companies are involved): Surescreen, Mologic, Omega, Avacta, Abingdon; Captain Al also confirmed this in the Directors Talk interview
- As per the FT article, Mologic (GAD) & Omega have been contracted to supply the Government: HOWEVER, this is only to supply *manufacturing capacity* for tests, *as opposed to proprietary tests themselves*
- As we all know, Surescreen will supply 20m tests, though this would appear to be the limit of their contribution (IE: they will not expand their production capacity further, though this contract will likely be renewed once expired) and thus can be considered a stand alone test/manufacturer vis-a-vis government targets
- 'The doors are open' for more manufacturers to join the consortium, 'this is just the start'. But rather curiously, the others *offered up* manufacturing capacity, whereas Avacta and Abingdon *did not offer unconditional capacity to the Gov*
- Mologic & Omega's test has **not been validated** for government supply so (as I understand it) *they cannot manufacture for Government supply; as per MDD's Twitter thread, it would appear this was foreseen (2+ weeks ago?) as Mologic's Sens. is 93 vs Gov. threshold of 95+
- SOOOOO while Surescreen, Mologic & Omega have been contracted to MANUFACTURE for Government, in the case of Mologic & Omega it is "not clear" because 'no one knows right now' **whose technology will be manufactured**.
THIS IS THE LIMIT OF MY 'HARD FACTS' to which I add the following SPECULATION:
- We know that the Government (via the Consultancy contract) has invested significant time & effort in standardizing protocols and manufacturing processes (see our A/N shift) to bring the consortium together
- We know Avacta & Mologic have been 'working together for several months' and that Mologic will now support Avacta in coming to market ASAP, with a second generation test, and with manufacturing capacity 'ready to move now'
