What I meant was (earlier post) 8% of CNE shares is 40m or £80m cash, with 20 odd RNs's stating the under purchase of shares daily target not being met - 90k per day average ish for the meagre £20m buy back.

Hi WAAA, don't think you had an +A in Maths for that post, the increase in the short position is 0.04% or 2m shares, CNE have purchases 2.28m shares so far, yes there is an increase in shorts, what we CAN'T see is the corresponding increase in long positions. With director selling , good day for the short disclosure. In term of the time line to the award, every week CNE is passing thru major hurdles, there's no Indian holiday period for Xmas and if you drew a straight line from £1.85 - to £2.25 on award we are DISCOUNTED by 25p and that discount grows, especially with the festive holidays, in early Jan we are 3 weeks away from the End of period RNS 25th Jan update, I think there will be news before that. IMO DYOR GLA.

If GOI have accepted CNE's undertaking to put legal matters right - and then CNE have religiously complied to the terms, Game end of.. GOI position- well They will NEVER have any legit defence going forward - It's a matter of time scale and GOI media impact. The way CNE news updates has travelled mainly thru India media - the grass touts want this done and a poster day for GOI - I stand by before New Year - bury the last - on with the NEw GLA HNY

Timeline is this -
The initial submission of an undertaking to withdraw all pending legal proceedings has to be done in 45 days. Thereafter the relevant Principal Commission of Income-tax has to give a certificate accepting or passing an order rejecting the claim in 15 days from the receipt of the application.

After the grant of the certificate, the companies will have to fulfil the condition of indemnity by all interested parties within 60 days. After this, the order granting relief has to be made within 30 days and only after this the refund will be initiated.

So if one believes this is the last case that has been withdrawn. GOI will only issue a refund after 15th January I believe. GLA DYOR.

It would appear lifting the proverbial Vedanta spanner from the pains taking GOI procedure, should reduce the requirement for maybe counter hedging positions - i.e protecting against the downside risk posed by unfinished proceedings- guess thru a mixture of instruments - arbitrage/Insurance/cross collateral dealings which is ultimately tied up in stock on loan, the increase in which has held back this SP over the last 6-8 weeks IMO. The requirement to protect against downside risk was material - no doubt and warranted. Yesterdays news IMO MASSIVELY de-risks this share, maybe, just maybe will might see that benefit in the price action going forward. The Vedanta outcome, could have been a ball breaker- thankfully avoided as the separate stakeholder/beneficial interest condition imposed by the GOI - is not within the CNE BOD's control, per se and that outcome could have gone horribly wrong - a massive spanner in the works - hence the substantial cover positioning whilst this uncertainty existed. IMO. GLA 19 down 2 to go - I hope the worst of this drawn out drama is now in the rear mirror. I need to get on with my life and stop waiting....

I think the MM's will revisit this- over the coming days - in light of overcoming a really very difficult 3rd party outcome - out of our control (and an Indian billionaire) - massive potential hurdle in the refund process. There's a lot of short talking drivel here, the SP level is back to July first delay down 20% , yet Debt down +£300m, Nat Gas increase medium term offsets the IRR AND A $200M DIVI , surely - HBr are positioning themselves IMO - why would they state - they expect 200k output for the next 4 years ( growth needs to be added) gwtiing the market ready for a deal - get in cheap - I think that piffed the MM's line of sight of growth.
