In the next few weeks Sareum should:

1. Announce director share purchases by TM, JR, SP, CB and MO of £5,000 each. This would be received well in the market place, it would communicate confidence in the business and is chicken feed compared to what many lth’s have invested.
2. Confirm that Sareum has made applications for grant funding to investigate the potential of SDC 1801 and SDC 1802 in COVID-19 (this was thrown away in the raising release and should be re-issued as a standalone announcement with more background to attract wider attention and issued as a media briefing note to health and science reporters of all the national media).
3. TM should write a first person article on how SDC-1801 and SDC-1802 represent exciting prospects in treating autoimmune diseases, cancer and more recently in addressing the severe respiratory symptoms associated with advanced COVID-19. The article should be sent to national journalists such as Fergus Walsh and Hugh Pym of the BBC plus every national newspaper journalist who writes about Covid and health and science issues (rather than the local Cambridge news). He should invite journalists to speak to him about his findings both now and on a regular basis moving forward.
4. Announce that Sareum and the ICR are hopeful of persuading Sierra’s new management to re-commence its SRA737 programme.
If Sareum started to stick its head above the parapet utilising points 1-4 (and obviously there are countless other avenues for them to pursue/exploit) we would start to see a move north in the share price. This really is basic stuff.

It’s surely not too arduous to devote one hour per week responding to emails with a quick ”Thanks for your email. Great to hear from you. Obviously we cannot divulge price sensitive information but rest assured xyz”. Apart from anything else it is just good manners and business practice. Otherwise TM and SP just come across as rude and aloof. It’s basic management stuff and is hardly rocket science. You compartmentalise certain times of the week to certain tasks. E.g. Friday at 5pm answer some emails…..

I would have liked it much more if TM and JR had paid back the £50,000 Sierra related bonuses as, perhaps in the form of director share purchases. Pay cuts highlight weakness whereas director share purchases communicate confidence in the business. Currently we have a board telling us they are going to create significant value for shareholders. What a great time then to back up this message with a raft of director buying. It is all pretty straight forward stuff. They just need to get on with it.

Even a £5,000 or £10,000 share purchase by each of Tim Mitchell, John Reader and Stephen Parker would send a "significant" message. It is not rocket science. The latest £1 million raise (which should have been accompanied by director purchases) was another opportunity to say to investors "we so believe in our science that this time we are going to join our shareholders and invest in our company". The market & existing shareholders would have responded accordingly and the Sareum share price would certainly not be 0.53 as it today. As I say, it's not rocket science - it's common sense and a basic understanding of how to manage the share price of a small listed plc. Director share purchases right now would communicate genuine confidence.

A few days ago one of the contributors on this board commented about the £50,000 bonuses paid to TM and JR at the time of the Sierra deal. I would prefer to see TM and JR pay the bonuses back in the form of director share purchases. Many long term holders have invested far more cash in Sar than the directors who have granted themselves options, on the whole, rather than purchased shares for cash. If TM and JR purchased £50,000 in Sar shares each this would send a huge message that they believe in the science and that no more dilutions were on the table. Can you imagine what this would do to the SP?

Yes, agree with you re China, I keep arriving that it is a Sareum and Sinovac licencing partnership. I have not changed my view that this is the one to watch over the coming weeks. Sinovac could quickly advance the Sareum FLT3+Aurora kinase inhibitor programme. If not Sinopharm/Sinovac then whoever the mystery Chinese partner is I still feel that this is our first bit of "quick" news followed up by the other programmes.

Well said Andy. I've been here since 2011. I think Sareum has huge potential but I would like to see a more savvy approach to investor and PR relations. We have been very patient.

The next 6 months for Sareum are clearly pivotal. It is imperative that the company now delivers on the promises made over the past 10 years. Good luck everyone.

About 5 years ago on BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine programme there was a really first-rate business expert called Nick Brown who used to appear each month with tips and advice for small businesses. I made contact with him and for a time built up a bit of an email rapport until he retired from the programme. He was someone who had built his own business up and sold it for a few million (very nice). Anyway, my point is that I recommended Sareum to him and he named them as his business of the month. I’ve kept in touch sporadically over the years and whist he’s retired he is obviously someone who knows how to grow a company and then sell it. I asked him a few months ago if he could send some tips to Tim Mitchell and John Reader as I really felt that they were missing a trick or two. He kindly did so a few weeks ago and sent me a copy of the advice he had emailed them. It was full of ideas on how to get the company noticed to attract institutional investors and generate media exposure. Disappointingly he emailed me back yesterday to say that he hadn’t received even a thank you or an acknowledgement from either TM or JR. If they don’t even have the courtesy to respond to influencers like this then you do wonder what they are up to?

If our investor & PR relations had not been hidden under a bushel over the last few years the SAR share price would undoubtedly be sitting steady at over 1p and would probably be significantly higher due to interest in the bio sector. It is amateurish not to realise that regular PR stories about Sareum will indirectly attract institutional investors as well as private investors and most importantly attract licencing & M&A approaches. The lack of editorial exposure in print, broadcast and online is a missed opportunity. I'm happy and excited with the science and where it could possibly take the share price but the lack of commercial evidence & approach to investor / PR relations over the past decade is concerning. The company really needs to sharpen up its communication skills. Perhaps some of the recent cash raised could be spent on PR and marketing. The next 6 months are pivotal.

Now is the time for Tim, John and Stephen to deliver on what they have alluded to and what we as shareholders have sincerely bought in to via their RNS briefings over the past ten years or so. We will find out in the next few months is still my gut instinct. If we really are "best in class" it won't be too much longer before "significant value" is realised for shareholders. I am still optimistic about the science but I do have concerns about the lack of commercial success over the last decade.

Having been a Sareum shareholder for over 9 years the placing does not unduly concern me but the lack of commercial progress certainly does. There is only so long that you can keep promising headway is being made before trust is eroded for good. This is fast approaching the tipping point.

Exasperation is starting to occasionally permeate this board again which is a shame as over many years this has been an extremely well informed discussion outlet with superb research, views, insight and positivity. Having been a Sareum shareholder since 2011 I think we need to remain focussed on the end game. Tim Mitchell and John Reader are basically Sareum assisted by Non-Exec Chairman Stephen Parker and the 2 NED’s, Clive Birch and Michael Owen. We need to acknowledge that Sareum Holdings plc is not a large company. What we are all invested in though is the science rather than up scaling to manufacturing which will be taken on by a larger pharma in what we all hope will bring “significant” (to coin a TM phrase) shareholder value. M&A activity or further licencing news could be very close. If by 2021 we are still “Best in Class” but without any evidence of additional licencing deals then it would be fair and proper to raise questions with the BOD about the lack of commercial progress. However, now is the time to be constructive and embolden TM and JR to deliver on what they have alluded to and what we shareholders have bought in to via their RNS briefings over the past ten years or so. I am hoping that the NED’s in particular have been operational behind the scenes and that TM and JR have been doing their bit in the lab. We will find out in the next few months is my gut instinct. The Sierra fiasco could also be about to turn in our favour now that NG has departed and we will learn more about the mystery Chinese transaction in the next few months. Re my suggestion on Friday that the Chinese pharma could be Sinovac (Sinopharm) it certainly would make sense looking at their portfolio and expertise. Well done to Bobbler back in March for spurring me on to dig a little deeper and as always Thoth2 for his forensic follow up. Sinovac look on paper the most likely partner but I do agree with your point about the vaccine element. However, when you dig a bit deeper Sinovac is not just in the vaccine business. They have been developing their non vaccine portfolio and Sareum's FLT3+Aurora kinase inhibitor programme is the perfect fit for them in the race to secure a Covid cure. I also agree with the point that Sareum should announce who the Chinese partner is. It would clearly enhance both the Sareum profile and share price. Having been a SAR share holder for 9 years I am hoping that the company will be more savvy moving forward. Good luck all.

I believe Tyk2 Jak1 is the biggie for Sareum. However when joining the Covid dots up over the last 2 months I keep arriving at a Sareum and Sinovac partnership. This could be the one to watch over the coming days and weeks. We were all blindsided by the out of the blue deal in March. Sinovac would appear to be the Chinese bio-co that could quickly advance the Sareum FLT3+Aurora kinase inhibitor programme. Their product portfolio includes vaccines against enterovirus71 (EV71), hepatitis A and B, seasonal influenza, H5N1 pandemic influenza (avian flu), H1N1 influenza (swine flu), varicella and mumps. It's just a bit of good old detective work that might or might not prove correct. Good luck all and enjoy your weekend.

Chinese scientists working on a COVID-19 vaccine have told Sky News they are "99%" sure it will be effective.

Sinovac, a Beijing-based biotech company, currently has its coronavirus vaccine in stage 2 trials, with more than 1,000 volunteers participating. Sky News is the first British broadcaster to visit its labs.

The company also said it is in preliminary talks to hold stage 3 trials - the final part of the trials process - in the UK.
