Entirely agree with your post of 29 October. My attitude entirely and I am ten years short of being twice your age!
Bought in today and feel rather like a vulture preying on other peoples misfortunes. My experience so far of buying into professional firms which have gone public has not been brilliant as I do wonder if former partners are good directors but we shall see. An interesting gamble methinks.
Is that why the shares went down 10p today?
Surely a drop of 20% in the capital value of CINE occurring in one day when the possible merger was announced will ensure that the proposed deal is dead in the water as CINE cannot afford it. Ironic this should happen 24 hours after at least one broker was bullish on CINE's prospects on its present form. Why are people never satisfied? I hope that the Grieidingers take some notice of market sentiment and shareholder value.
I was surprised to see on Poundland's website that they do internet sales. Does anybody know the percentage of internet sales overall? Is this an area which can be exploited so that less reliance placed on personal shoppers and more on armchair shoppers.
No records broken. Some improvement but not enough to stop share price falling sharply. Were cammacord right in downgrading which has helped price down by about 20% or more in last couple of months. Do the Greidingers have what it takes or is the company going to fall behind Odeon and Vue and lose what Weiner built up so well?
One broker says buy a week ago and sell today resulting in a massive sell off. Surely professional investors are more savvy. Or is the market run at the whim of a few brokers?? This price movement on one assessment out of context seems a tad irresponsible to me. What is the general market view. ? Anybody know?
JV announced with China Media Capital to open Legoland in Shanghai and other attractions in China. Helped the SP today which is useful in the aftermath of Alton Towers tragic accident
Anybody know of a reason for a 5% hike in the sp?. Is there a predator about? But did notice 2 quite large sells at the end of the day.
Thanks Comsman for your comment re Mr Malone. I see that somebody bought 4M shares today or rather there were 2 ordinary purchase trades one of 2M and the other a little over 2M during the day but only reported on LSE after the UT at the end of the day. The SP is holding up well in the turmoil of the markets caused by Greece even if Greece and Europe have nothing to do with CWC except as the likely users of offshore islands with consequential internet/telephone traffic. Somebody is buying in a serious fashion so probably not the time to be selling! Tempting to take a profit but surely there must be more to go for. Hope so!!!
Let's hope that the recent fall in the SP has now been halted. Perhaps somebody shorting to buy in cheap. I topped up at 65.40 and then complained when SP went lower but now looking distinctly better. Always a chance of Liberty / John Malone buying a larger stake or more. On the other hand as has been said he is a skilled operator and unlikely to be giving anything away. Nevertheless more backing should strengthen the share price and who knows whether one of the big US companies such as AT&T may be interested which would not amuse Phil Bentley but never mind he has done well so far. By hte way his academic credentials are most impressive.
Saw that news a couple of days ago and it seems to have filtered through to the market. Great contract. Also the various regulatory hurdles on the way to full integration with Columbus are gradually being overcome and the major ones seem to be out of the way so really it's all systems go. Phil Bentley has certainly started to prove himself to the advantage of CWC and its shareholders
http://www.plasticsnews.com/article/20140203/NEWS/140209998/rexam-to-sell-healthcare-group-to-private-equity-firm Sold health care group to Montagu Private Equity for about US$805 mill . Should help the balance sheet!
Good enough for Quantum Partners LP good enough for me. Have held these shares for some time and topped up. Once the Columbus deal is done and dusted and has worked its way through the system I think that this company and the sp have a bright future BUT DYOR and GLA.
No huge improvement so shares price gets slated. Simply proceeding as per plan and forecast is not good enough. It's a tough and unpredictable environment! The market always has high expectations but life does not work that way.. Good solid share in my view going the right way so stick with it. DYOR
Modest I guess and showing a lot of capital expenditure. Not helping sp either!
The company has agreed to buy Columbus Int'l and is issuing a lot of shares by way of placing to acquire Columbus. This has inevitably deflated the sp. I had hoped Columbus would buy CWC but no such luck. This acquisition will ultimately strengthen CWC and I think that the sp will readjust over time. I propose to hold but sorry for Bilboburgler who without realising it only had to wait another day to get a bargain. I remember selling my o2 shares the day before their take-over by Telefonica was announced and felt gutted!
That really is Murphy's law. Bad luck. Anybody know what caused the drop?
