A company has good results and the shares actually go up. Great. Nearly sold earlier on a mini-spike at 506 but glad that I kept my finger off the button. My reasoning was the same as Shatter's at 10.23 post. I agree. Also Mark Wilson is realistic and postive unlike so many CEO's with decent results but who then speak of headwinds.. which sends the shares rocketing down by 10%! Having been caught by Costain's restructuring which cost me dear I have been nervous but results from RTO, LOOK and AV have been positive and well received so perhaps it's a new dawn! Hope the sp stays up unlike ULVR which rose £1 on the results and then sank back again within a day or 2. I hold AV as a long terminvestment and like increased divi.
Missed the early trading and was really stuffed. I don't like the way small shareholders have been treated and whilst I think that the company has a rosy future, cheesing off small shareholders and causing them to lose money is not in my view clever.
Do these results really justify a share price drop of over 3.5%? Encouragingly debt is down. I hope the sp picks up again.
Apparently AV's reinsurance arrangements on flood damage are better than most. Something about treating all claims together and not separately . All very technical but they got a good deal. If they had not their sp would not be going North at this particualr point in time. GLA I like them and always have done. Mark Wilson bought a load of shares when things were looking dicey and he was right . Even mine are now showing a profit - albeit modest!
Can anyone explain why MJW is on the slide at the moment? The price has been drifting consistently for quite a few days now.
I bought into Pearson when it crashed recently following which it went down further although it is now slowly recovering but it has quite a way to go. TTATE seemed to take a hit in one but also to be losing a bit each day since then. If buys exceed sells and the price is dropping that does not sound good. As you say the RNS was not that bad and perhaps some people will se evalue in this share unless as you say there are some hidden nasties which will make matters worse. Let's hope the worm will turn. Artificial sweeteners really should be favourably regarded in this anti-obesity age. I have noticed that food is not a good place to be at the moment - look at Unilever and the supermarkets. A friend said to me that people's first economies are on food and the last on leisure. I wonder if this is true. If so buy TUI, CINE, MERL and TCG! DYR GLA
The price keeps dropping even if slowly. As some people have said this company has merely reported level figures rather than some dire drop in profits yet the sp took a dire drop and is sticking. Perhaps over- valued is more appropriate than oversold. Am holding on in the hope of a recovery - a Chinese white knight would be nice but a bit optimistic I fear -having now lost about 15% but I do ask myself whether I should take a hit and hope to recover the money elsewhere. CEY would be a nice bet if it keeps rising but how do you compare the 2 shares - yet which is making the greater capital gain in the last 2 weeks? Any ideas please??
Prime Market may be bearish but Goldman Sachs remains neutral today lowering the target from 800p to 790p so they do not seem too worried about the IMS. I must admit that a 15% mark-down on that IMS seems unreasonably harsh. So far no pick-up but let's see what tomorrow brings. The market is a fickle place as holders of ULVR will have seen recently. Increase of £1 per share on recent results which has now slipped away to a deficit of £1 per share.
Financila timetable published yesterday afternoon as pointed out by Barrington. Prelim 2013 results on 27 Feb. Could the Market be anticipating disappointing figures. If so and if the Market is right the shares will fall further. Pre flotation Questor in the Telegraph warned againsy Merlin on the grounds of high capital and maintenance costs, high degree of debt, low prospective yield and exposure to economic downturn. See http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/markets/questor/10414665/Why-you-shouldnt-buy-shares-in-Legoland-owner-Merlin-Entertainment.html I personally thought that was over pessimistic and short term that was right. Now we must await the figures and see which way things go. Would like to remain optimistic but having seen my investment in quite positive territory it is noew marginally in the red which is not so good!
Can anyome explain why this has dropped from 375p to 350p in the last 2 weeks?
Thanks for that. Sounds like a compromise all round. Hope the Market approves. At least we know where we are. Fingers crossed and GLA
Thanks for view with which I entirely agree although the recent drop has made me nervous. I was not aware of Digicel and am reassured by your info on this. If JPMORGAN are that bullish good for them. We seem to be on or about the average so hopefully things will improve once Bahamas sorted out. The Market does not like uncertainty.
Does this company pose a threat to CWC?
Any reason for today's drop? Or just uncertainty in the Bahamas?
Thanks for that. Perhaps CWC playing hardball. Wait and see I guess.
Last year it was 6 February. 4 divs per year. No further info on Unilever website except that final results on 21 Jan. GLA and Bargin I hope you are right! Should be as Unilver seems to sell a lot of products world wide. Unfortunately the market sdoes not seem so optimistic.
