Most people apart from Wobbs are scathing about Home Retail and our new High Street Czarina twittered her 10 cents worth too saying what a mess Home Retail would make of iconic Habitat. She forgot to say that with all its iconic attraction it went bust! Home Retail have money and in difficult trading conditions surely budget stores both in the High Sttreet and online should make money. Perhaps they should rethink Argos which is a forerunner of an online store and dump the shops or use the property values to some effect. I am optimistic about this share although currently losing about 25% after the recent fairly mild profir warning.

A bit up and down in the last few days. Is the price of these shares being dragged down by Cable & Wireless Worldwide who recently suffered a broker downgrade? What are the prospects of an early return to 50p+?

Pity the shares have come back so sharply today losing half of yesterday's gain. Anybody venture to suggest why. I think that this is a first class company with great potential and the shares must be cheap. I hope that I am right! Any views please??

do not justify big drop - top up seems more appropriate. Strange that results have provoked so little interest. Perhaps MM had shares in anticipation of good results and disappointingly nobody bought in any serious way. Perhaps the news will travel in the next few days. i hope so.

on the basis of 6 trades in which 1000 shares were bought and 1968 sold sounds a nonsense to me. Perhaps some MM had some spare shares and was giving them away - good time to top up if so inclined. Couple of decent buys tomorrow and perhaps they will go up 10-15% - who knows? They seem a good company to me and going in the right direction

A lot of shares were traded late on 4 August. Were these buys or sells - anybody got any info please?

Had a look at this yesterday. Good products but they had to shed a lot of staff and it looks as if the recent 3.8% stake by IKO bailed them out. They have outlets in many countries so are affected by different grades of recession. They are also helped by the European insulation requirements. My gut feeling is to wait until they go lower and then think about it. Perhaps instead of buying cherry pickers from Tanfield (as suggested by the worthy Viscount) they could buy the entire Upright division. Good fit for Sig and Tan would be well rid of that drag on their EVs. Are you buying in?
