Next week I think. That may send the sp rocketing up or indeed down . Time Siemens or somebody stepped in and paid £3 per share but that in this climate is probably wishful thinking! My feeling is that Invensys is headed in the right direction so hopefully the sp will follow. Nevertheless 2 spikes in a week is strange!
Profit-taking or rumours subsiding? Let's hope the first is true. Thanks Chubb1 - keeping my fingers crossed here. 2nd purchase was of fewer shares than first so lower potential profit but never mind a profit is always a profit whatever the size.
see http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/business/business-news/market-round-up-punters-pile-in-as-takeover-rumours-stick-to-invensys-7722642.html Could be interesting. Now in for second time at about 200p so well pleased - makes a change from some of my other investments!
Many thanks for your helpful post. I had not heard about the Chinese element. Saw the Independent this morning mentioning both Siemens and a Chinese bidder . Volumes up in last 3 days - who knows? These rumours have been around before. I have actually taken a profit but will wait a bit before going back in..
Like you I have found nothing on the internet. I asked around a bit and there is talk of rumours of a bid. That happened before and Siemens were alleged to be interested. I bought below 200p and have taken my profit. You never know with these things. Could buy in again if the price comes back as I think that this is a good company and operating in the right areas. Good luck for the future.
Anybody know what is going on?
What did you think of CW 38p? CWC have drifted uop a bit since the paltry offer to CW so if things hot up there perhaps this one will accelerate too. Are you sure john_gold that div will only be cut by 4p? My ttoughts are that the share price having come down so far the div should be cut by 50% which would stll give about an 8% return which is respectable.
6 June 2012 and record date 8 June 2012 It's on Cineworeld website under Investors.
Why does the company not accept that buying this outfit was a mistake, cut their losses and sell it and get on with what they do best, providing pest control and other services excluding haulage by another name.
Disappointing statement but more good than bad I would have thought.. Not sure about CWW - they went down enormously after profits warning and although they recently leapt up a third some of that has been lost. I took a profit there and am hoping CWC will come good and maintain their div. having just topped up today. They seem to have adquate cash or cash facility for at least 2 years and places like Macau and Monaco must be good news. I think that they are selling their 49% of the Fiji operation which should produce more cash. GLA
I remember buying a particular coffee making machine at Argos in the London area and having to find out which branches stocked it. I think I did this at one of the branches or it may have been on the phone but I did get a swift and correct reply and was able to pick it up at a branch near Victoria Station. Bearing in mind the size of the catalogue one cannot expect every branch to have every item in stock. Argos sell goods right across the spectrum unlike Dixons and Currys etc who are much more limited. Argos try to combine the advantages of online shopping and buying in store but without any frills. Comparing Argos with Currys is unrealistic because the concepts are different. Argos like Amazon sell as cheaply as possible and that is the reason for shopping with them. As Wobbs says disposable incomes are going down which means that the cheapest kettle of a particular brand is the one that one buys hopefully at Argos.
Most people apart from Wobbs are scathing about Home Retail and our new High Street Czarina twittered her 10 cents worth too saying what a mess Home Retail would make of iconic Habitat. She forgot to say that with all its iconic attraction it went bust! Home Retail have money and in difficult trading conditions surely budget stores both in the High Sttreet and online should make money. Perhaps they should rethink Argos which is a forerunner of an online store and dump the shops or use the property values to some effect. I am optimistic about this share although currently losing about 25% after the recent fairly mild profir warning.
A bit up and down in the last few days. Is the price of these shares being dragged down by Cable & Wireless Worldwide who recently suffered a broker downgrade? What are the prospects of an early return to 50p+?
Pity the shares have come back so sharply today losing half of yesterday's gain. Anybody venture to suggest why. I think that this is a first class company with great potential and the shares must be cheap. I hope that I am right! Any views please??
do not justify big drop - top up seems more appropriate. Strange that results have provoked so little interest. Perhaps MM had shares in anticipation of good results and disappointingly nobody bought in any serious way. Perhaps the news will travel in the next few days. i hope so.
on the basis of 6 trades in which 1000 shares were bought and 1968 sold sounds a nonsense to me. Perhaps some MM had some spare shares and was giving them away - good time to top up if so inclined. Couple of decent buys tomorrow and perhaps they will go up 10-15% - who knows? They seem a good company to me and going in the right direction
here here! The products are so good in this energy saving world of ours. They deserve to be in every Green publication. Roll on 15 Sep! LOL
A lot of shares were traded late on 4 August. Were these buys or sells - anybody got any info please?
Had a look at this yesterday. Good products but they had to shed a lot of staff and it looks as if the recent 3.8% stake by IKO bailed them out. They have outlets in many countries so are affected by different grades of recession. They are also helped by the European insulation requirements. My gut feeling is to wait until they go lower and then think about it. Perhaps instead of buying cherry pickers from Tanfield (as suggested by the worthy Viscount) they could buy the entire Upright division. Good fit for Sig and Tan would be well rid of that drag on their EVs. Are you buying in?
