If you know where to look on your "interwebs" you'll probably find out that Elvis is alive and well driving a red London bus on the moon ?
With the FT showing average daily volumes of 2.75 mill (which counts buys & sales, btw), I don't see much evidence of "buying big on the dips".
Please enlighten us as we would all like to see a good reason for these to surge upwards (without the need for wearingVR goggles) of course !

I agree with you, after Bunter hit hospitality the risk is all on the downside for a while, certainly does not help to pay the debts off, that's for sure.
WRT Superpuffer, this is the man who puffed them remorselessly in the 80's & 90's then, sold the lot at just under 50p (his post) describing the rest of us as "a step or two behind", came back in as a strong buyer in the 80's and miraculously now senses a bid. Sorry did I say "sense" ?
Of course I meant "puff", he /she seems much longer on puff than of sense.
Well stranger things have happened than a bid for MARS but his evidence of "buying the dips" is about as thin as his memory retention, if there is a bid I doubt it would be as generous as our last approach was.

I fear you are correct, the 44,742 number of options at 67.05 is designed to fall into the £30,000 HMRC allowable amount and are apparently at nil cost but subject to windfall gains.

The stock theoretically drops on the XD date, not the divi pay date.
Check back on your price records to confirm.
The MM's know which stocks have a reasonably large number of divi re-investments by PI's and usually edge the price up to make a little out of this. Most platforms offer automatic divi reinvestment at a cheap price & MM's are very well aware of this fact.
The point I was making is that with the price weak on divi pay date shows that ULVR is in a fundamentally weak market today, nothing more, nothing less.
Not being Mystic Meg I do not profess to know where the stock might be tomorrow or next week.

Considering the dividend was paid this morning we might have expected MM's to raise the price in anticipation of re-invested dividends not to mention a rising market,but nothing of the sort, down we go again !
At this rate it could be on a 4% yield in a week...

Oddly I hve seen no comments in the press today re MARS numbers of yesterday, which is unusual as they normally have a fair bit of coverage, perhaps the city scribblers are finding it difficult to evaluate as they are not comparing like to like.
Fairdealer's comparison of the property values going in different directions at MARS & M&B was interesting as we have often commented here as to whether Findlay had them valued to perfection or beyond, I am happier seeing the mark down as I guess this is more realistic especially bearing in mind RF's failure to sell Pitcher & Piano's portfolio at book cost well before covid days. The fact RF valued property internally is not usually a good sign either. Happily the new team valued them externally so we now have a much better idea of where we really are financially.

Yes, those early trades (late reports I guess) do look most odd.
There is surely likely to be a RNS soon about this exceptional volume since yesterday, no comment in the press yet that I've noticed but it does start to feel good in being a holder of DLG.

You say it was a bad day for MARS to be reporting on, in fact seasoned holders could assure you that every day they have announced results since 2016/17 has been a bad day, that was when they were 140p and higher with a very nice yield.
Sadly after Findlays "shrewd" management we are now less than half that level & with no yield at all, I would like to see the stock code change from MARS to MAS, indicating it is for masochists only...

The old maxim "never as good as it looks, never as bad as it looks" holds true here, imho.
Findlay got us into this mess but thankfully we have someone else to hopefully get us out of it.

Sales lower than debt until 2025 doesn't look promising either.
Why on earth the old CEO, RF, did not pursue the offer above 100p one can only guess at, but talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth ?
The other thing that bothers me is the Welsh, (Brains) estate we are now managing are described as high quality, which by various accounts of them could be akin to thinking a pig with lipstick looks attractive.

Morningstar has a bullish video on SN. today, fair value north of £15, well worth watching imho.
