I think I'll sell some in Feb when my 6 months lock in from previous purchase ends, not because I've lost faith, I haven't, but I have quite a few I could "recycle" thus selling and waiting another 6 months seems a sensible move for me.

Sharesoc, who have good form in fighting high management fees in funds, especially vct's, are raising questions at the MERC agm re the fees on Northern vct now apparently being 4.5%, which by any reasonable comparative is way too high.
When I first invested in Northern vct in 1995 or 96 there were no performance fees.
This could be quite a hit to their bottom line if the vote does not go Sharesocs way, which it often does not in vct's (look at Albion AAVC as an example of cutting fees even when the vote was disputed), they are very very good at highlighting these matters.
This would be quite a hit to the bottom line if the fees were halved (which imho they easily could be).

Indeed I do hope so, my investment started as an SEIS which is now up from that portfolio, 22 times, which is before the 50% tax rebate + 14% cgt rebate, but I was investing in it each year for about 5 years so it is rather important to me, as you can imagine !

To follow on from your point 2 re nav, post Findlay and a marking down of assets, that nav is much more likely to be in relation to reality, which even on its own gives some much needed confidence.

IMHO there is every chance of your price being reached, it seems like they are gliding lower at present yet my guess is they are still doing well financially.
I use them as a platform, also use AJB & i-web,
1) AJB are good at what they do, but ;
2) Jarvis with a not very imaginative platform, though one which does exactly what's required, has a great team if you need them to do things out of the ordinary, like accepting & releasing certificates & flexibility when needed which AJB are not so great at,
3) i-web is perfect for something really easy, like an ISA which is already set up, & they are v cheap, but request anything off the run & you might as well be looking for an iced beer in the Saudi desert !
JIM has this back office (which they are good at) offer to look after for all sorts of what would otherwise be competitors by not undercutting them on platform prices, which I guess explains 2) above.
This, I humbly suggest, is why they have been so successful over the years, with every prospect of this "farming out of the back office" continuing.
Time alone will tell if this synopsis is correct, but I am buying into it.

Nevertheless I just added some more at 283.84 or 284 about after a small comm & no stamp duty being aim.
Gives a yield of 4.75% historic which should be about 5% prospective and 85p below the years high.
Seems a sound tuck away to me...

My timing seems uncommonly good today, just now City a.m. have announced that Fortress has paid Patron an undisclosed sum for 100% of Punch taverns.
So perhaps we really should be re-evaluating our chances of an approach ?
Again just thinking out loud, but easier to make an approach when they are at a 60p's valuation rather than in the 80p's, for sure.

I see exactly where you are coming from & it has been a deflating experience seeing a once very decent company over stretch itself. Time can be a great healer, it can, of course, be an expensive option, we have to weigh things up as they affect us all in diferent ways & degrees.
Sorry not to be more cheerful, but these things can turn around when you least expect it which is what I was saying in my earlier mail, meantime they still sell lovely beer....

Certainly the back drop for MARS has worsened & we currently now hear no more fiction about "buying the dips", but oddly enough with the share now showing on a d v fn as a downward weekly breakout, now could be about the right time to have a little sniff ?
The hysterical suggestions of it being 10p higher by Friday (every blooming Friday) seem now like a distant memory & with so many of the "it can only go up from here" gang having left, or left licking their wounds, I wonder if the mid to low 60p's could be the time for a sober re-evaluation ?
Debt always was, and still is, the problem. But rates seem likely to stay low so the amount of cash needed to make a bid for the estate is easily able to be raised, consolidation is surely likely in this industry with alcohol use declining amongst the young & the older ones, like me, are a declining market anyway biologically !
Just thinking out loud here but the old saying, it's never as good as it looks & it's never as bad as it looks, could be proven right yet again ?

It is up about 8X at present but could be rather higher with a fair wind....
