Neil777 is openly discussing pumping (& presumably dumping) on Abingdon health (ABDX) forum with another poster. They operate in packs with a concerted effort to pump & dump. No shame.

It is 100% an income stock. It would be nice to get some SP growth but unless the recent rule changes causes a huge increase in revenues and/or profits I'll have to live with the dividends....poor me!!

Neil has shifted focus onto Abingdon health [ABDX] which fits his profile of a troubled SP.....obviously he is talking about spikes again. Modus operandi.
I doubt he even bothers reading the accounts or background information. Next step will be a boiler room.

Jollyspeculator, I think you may be too kind. Such behaviour isn't just maths skills. It is knowingly trying to 'game' the system by getting others to invest to drive the SP higher so they can gain. Hence the comments about "a few grand buy moves it up 10%." and talk about spikes. It is attempts at manipulating others so that they can benefit.
Unfortunately it is the way the world works....and in the digital age it can be very effective.

Solley, I'm not really sure what question you are asking. There is always a fall ex-div date because 'effectively' the value of the company & therefore the shares have reduced by the amount paid out in dividend.
There is also the question about 'some' investors buying shares pre ex-div date to get the dividend (& driving up the SP potentially) and then selling the shares post ex-div date (potentially driving down the SP). I don't know if this applies to ITV...or even 'most' shares.

I'm not exactly sure why 'a rising FTSE' necessarily means that ITV must rise too. The FTSE rises for a variety of reasons not all which have a direct or significant impact on ITV. Didn't there used to be 'Bellwether' stocks?.....probably the UK banks of old, pre-crash!!

Heavy engineering/support industry seems to be a very tricky business to be in, I suspect it always has been. As the engineering gets more complicated - and risky in terms of liability if/when things go wrong - the customers (oil companies & the like) employ high paid lawyers to write contracts to shift the risk onto the engineering company. I suspect there is the veiled threat of 'sign it or the Chinese will get the work'. A difficult environment to make a huge profit. Good management is critical......as ever they promote the incompetent.
I suspect the real money is supplying anciliary services - maintenance contract & support vessels - once the project is completed.

I think one can make money gambling on stocks that run into trouble. But as RetiredBanker said, it is very risky.
There are lots of rampers who bottom feed, trying to manipulate the SP, trying to get others to get them a profit on their £1,000 investment(s).
I suspect they are rarely the ones left holding the baby....part of the investment 'game' I suppose. Con men (& women) imo.

Hopefully they can complement each other and not compete directly. Yes, to some extent they want the same audiences but hopefully they can both have something unique. At the moment the Tory government seems intent on destroying or at least down-sizing the BEEB, which would be a shame. Create a level playign field for sure but unshackle them both from outdated regulation and allow themselves to prepare for future viewing habits.
There is a real danger that ITV gets taken private for little money by US investors.....I doubt the Tories would interfere.

Only time will tell whether management have got it right (on ITVX and other things). But these are changes they probably had to make. Nobody likes change - especially when it is expensive & the outcome isn't nailed on - but doing nothing wasn't eally an option.....just look at the chart since 2015, one almost continuous decline from 250p to 60p.

Shaml89, you are talking a lott of sense imo. Neil is talking twaaddle. He is obviously trying to create a bit of false hope by investing £1000 and make a quick trade on a false spike .
He doesn't even know how to filter someone becaus he still in responds to you.

Janus, we probably won't know what the real user experience is like until the system is tested near or at capacity. At the moment you are 'probably' only a small number of people on the system. Once it is fully launched the number of users will increase nearer to expected levels and during particularly popular live shows the network will be really tested.
But it is good to know that you are impressed so far.

Sisyphus, your enthusiasm is boundless. I'm not sure 'the next update' will prove anyone wrong or right....they haven't even officially launched ITVX yet!!
The transition to ITVX might not be as stratospheric as you would like.....there may be churn in the months ahead as people dip in to try it, then return to what they were doing before. As long as there is steady progress - even from a low base - then I would be happy. This is a long term project....unlikely to be 'next year we'll be millionaires' territory.
Love your enthusiam though.
