Loving the optimism counterbalanced with a bit pessimism. So the SP is heading towards 56p or 78p?
I'm torn between selling now & buying back at 56p (on Thursday) OR waiting for £1 and beyond (also on Thursday)...infinity & beyond!!
I reckon it is fair comment to say: "Nobody knows!"

Let's see if we can get through 70p and hold it.

Sisyphus, you 'almost' sound like you know what you are talking about....although personally I have no idea what you are talking about!! Something about automatic bottoms being postively kicked?!...I'm not sure where the Logic begins.

The best way to change market sentiment is through the numbers. Post positive updates & results and people want to invest. If ITVX increases viewers and ad revenue that will be reflected in the SP. At the moment it seems we are waiting for a miracle.....especially with recessionary talk increasing.

Gary, I have been called a lot worse!!

I expect those factors are already in the price. Probably the only things to take it to £1 (soon!!) are an offer for all or parts of the business..... or a really positive trading update (something significant & unexpected).

It will never happen. The Tories (in fact a government of any colour) will 'protect' house prices as much as they can.....the wealth of the nation is built on house prices and there would be a lot of unhappy voters if they saw their main asset fall by anywhere near 30%.
So anyone expecting or hoping for a +30% fall in house prices might be disappointed.
We have a supply shortage and systemic problems with building more houses. Supply & demand - exacerbated by government policy - will keep UK houses expensive IMO.

I'm not sure what ITVX will bring to the table for the world cup that will make people become paid subscribers when there are free options. Perhaps I haven't been paying attention but I haven't seen much advertising that ITVX is coming.
I think it will be a slow process of building subscribers, especially in current conditions. But at least ITV istaking the interweb thingy seriously.

Andreas, I think you are correct. It is impossible to judge the bottom.
There does seem to be an increasing number of companies that are suffering similar declines. I suppose it could be a reaction to the post pandemic excess of optimism. It could be shorters looking for their next target.....but no smoke without fire. Although at some point foreign money will swoop in and pick up any valuable assets left over from the carnage.

Yeah, I heard a rumour that ITVX wouldn't work anyway because of something called the minellium bug...or perhaps it will be the Russians, taking out a vital undersea cable!!

Dulwichman, there will always be 'other factors' to blame for our lack of growth....when the war is over & China has opened up & energy costs have fallen, there will be something else to blame (climate change probably).
The UK is almost unique in that it has built barriers to its nearest & largest trading market and have a government that seems intent to cut its nose off to spite its face.
So it isn't that Brexit will stop the UK economy from growing but that it will make growth harder to achieve....especially if we continue to pursue policies designed to anatagonise the EU & for no other reason than it annoys them.
The big question is whether Rishi wants to work with the EU for our mutual benefit, in which case he will need to somehow control the ERG. He has a unique opportunity, either back him or risk a landslide Labour win at next GE.

Perhaps he is investing in European shares or UK shares that earn their money overseas.
It is rather depressing that when you criticise the management of a company people ask "Why don't you sell or move abroad?".....like it isn't right to expect better!
A company can be on it's knees and run by donkeys but it could still have potential....it sometimes only takes better leadership or someone with a vision to unlock it.

The UK voted to leave the UK and we have left. It is as simple as that.
The manner of our leaving & the implications of the deal(s) is being discussed & understood a little better. Personally I'm not sure the 52% who voted to leave were expecting the hard form of Brexit we got. All through the negotiations there was lots of nonsense spouted about 'the EU needs us to buy their Audi cars' & 'they will let us eat cake' statements....so rightly or wrongly there are a lot of people unaware of what the deal(s) we signed actually mean for them.
The Brexit bonus needs to be delivered fairly quickly IMO....and I don't mean more powerful vacuum cleaners!!

WillLackster, that is news to me. I always saw the FT as apolitical, concentrating on business facts and not getting involved in politics....unless that impacts on business & economics of course. I am sure Truss got a pasting from them....

Talk today that Rishi & Hunt will need to 'find' £50bn through cuts & tax rises....apparently the forecasts aren't as rosy as hoped and the market is also expecting some 'headroom'. Probably why the pension triple lock, 3% defence spending & uplift in benefits are all back on the table.
