Album, I have no idea how many people will be watching the game on ITVX. But I expect the network planners will anticipate peak demand on the ITVX Systems during the match.
Like saying peak demand for Turkey is Christmas!!

Saturday will be a significant test for ITVX.....even if not all the recently 'gained' 20m subscribers use ITVX to watch the game.

To some extent people get used to a particular interface....and when that interface changes - for an 'upgrade' say - it can upset a lot of people.
I find most interfaces improve with familiarity....but even the same provider can have slightly different experience depending upon the interface. Iplayer app on my Chrome/Google device seems to behave slightly differently to Iplayer on my MS laptop (using Firefox).
People adapt & learn. But a good interface is intuitive and gets you the stuff you want to see with minimum of effort. AI will be important in 'offering' content that will appeal based on past viewing habits.

Sorry, didn't do it for me. I remember the punchline in one of the John Boyega ads, with him saying "I need to get a new agent" (or something similar).....very funny, but not exactly a ringing endorsement of the brand. Obviously aimed at a different demographic.
PS Haven't seen the Helena Bonham-Carter advert.

If someone signs up to the ITVX having already been a Hub viewer then I'm not sure that would be classed as a gain....since they cannot realistically view both platforms at the same time. Also there has to be some nuance in the use of the term 'subscriber'....since to me this sort of implies they have signed up to a premium fee paying service. The 'regular' viewers will also generate advertising revenue for ITVX but not at the same consistent level as fee payers.

Winstanley, I'm not sure I entirely agree...surprise, surprise!
The quality of the internet connection provided by the ISP is common to all streaming services. The quality of the content and the capability of the content providers servers - in terms of bandwidth & number of customers it can supply - is unique to each platform. The user friendliness of the interface is also under the direct control of the provider (subject to integration difficulties with third party providers).
Customers are being required to pay for ever more reliable & faster broadband supply, this is becoming more common & affordable due to the rollout of true fibre to the home. So streaming is the future without a doubt.
ITV have laid the groundwork for future growth, they have lots of content, they have the studios & the production talent to make content people want to watch. They just have to deliver.
The seeds have been sewn. However some people are already getting ready to harvest the crop. I'm not even sure what that crop will be....hopefully golden nuggets!!

One would have thought that the success of ITV was inextricably linked to the success or not of the English mens football team. It is not. The football world cup is only held every 4 years (for goodness sake!).
There may be a slight uplift in profits...presumably it would depend upon the amount of advertising slots they have free to sell for key matches ...and presumably the type of contracts pre-sold slots were arranged under. I'm sure many armchair analysts can tell us.
The success of ITVX won't be known until the numbers are in and probably not for many months until customer churn is known & has stabilised. There are bound to be viewers who sign up to give it a try & leave...hopefully they will like what they see and stay....perhaps even upgrade to premium content.
The jury is out on ITV until they start to show consistent numbers. Anything else is speculation IMO.
One caveat is that an offer for the Studio business could cause a significant re-rating of the SP....but many have been expecting that for years. Chickens counted eggs hatched scenario.

ITVX launch day seems a slow burn for the SP. Perhaps like one of those firework rockets the take off will be slow but spectacular. Nothing on BBC website (even the Business section)....but I'm not really surprised about that.

Researchcentre, as you correctly spotted, it was a joke about the yacht. I sometimes joke about gold plated toilets in the executive washroom.
I would agree that the management should get credit for taking mining underground and increasing production. But I reserve the right to criticise because they have made some very odd decisions. But progress is being made. They don't have any more excuses now and the ultimate mark of success will be gold poured. Good luck to all shareholders.
The market hasn't spotted the potential here....that's what I keep telling myself!!

Winstanley, thanks for your thoughts. It is good to know that Carolyn doesn't do things in half measures. It is why the article - which was actually about a new SKY box - seemed odd. But as I said, they were probably using an early beta version of ITVX app.
I am hoping the new streaming service will also be best in class...or better!

Quite disappointed for sure...and possibly a little concerned. But as I did say, this was probably an early beta version of the app.....and the real thing will probably be much better.
