Is everyone else aware there are ‘already five investments in the portfolio’? as stated in the RNS this morning? I am not sure why I had missed that and will need to check back. Are they historic investments as I though all bar one had been sold?

The fact there are so many problems with the current testing regime must be so depressing for ministers, health service workers and increasingly for the public. The country needs a lift when it comes to testing and there must be increasing pressure to share information about a reliable, home-based, non-invasive test with results in a few minutes which will take the pressure off the current system which is starting to drown under its own well-publicised limitations. Are we getting close to the announcement that Avacta is riding to the rescue? Matt and Boris need a way out of the quagmire and they need it fast!

As promised I emailed HL yesterday to express frustration that certain companies' shareprices have not been updating in 'live' time on their platform. This does not affect all shares, and not all the time. It was particularly frustrating yesterday with as the sell/buy price for VELA remained static at 8.00/ 9.00 . Only by making a dummy trade was it possible to find the correct price. This is the answer I received this morning:

We’re aware of instances of live prices not updating recently for some stocks.

I hope to assure you we're equally disappointed that this is happening. To provide further detail of the problem, we're currently experiencing an issue with the data we're receiving for live prices. Our live prices are streamed to us from a third party data provider, however once it reaches us the prices don't update as expected. In fact what happens is the prices become static and don't move for some time. We've identified the cause of this is due to certain types of data that's being streamed to us, which is why it only affects a select number of stocks as opposed to every stock on the platform.

When this issue occurs we're able to identify it and begin to work on a short term resolution in means of a workaround to get the prices updating again, however this doesn't prevent the issue from reoccurring.

The overall fix that will prevent further instances is currently underway and is a very high priority with our IT team. It's a large undertaking and as such we don't have any further details at present including any timeframes.

I understand the situation is far from ideal, but I hope I can also assure you that we're taking this incredibly seriously and are doing everything we can to resolve this as quickly as possible.

I apologise for the continued inconvenience this is causing you and thank you for the patience you've shown so far as we're working to fix this.

Yes, I have noticed this getting worse in recent weeks - it only affects some of my holdings, usually VELA and AVCT every day and others from time to time. Seems very weird so I have emailed today for an explanation which I will share if I get a response.

I am convinced, hopefully not wearing rose-tinted spectacles, that Avacta is being talked about on the airwaves by virtually every government speaker who is asked about mass-testing. All that is missing is the word 'Avacta' and in my view that can only be because for whatever reason there is an agreement that nothing should be said until full validation and accuracy of results are confirmed by the scientists and regulators.
There are so many clues which seem obvious to us but not yet to the general public although today's gradual rise suggests more and more PIs are beginning to discover AVCT. If Boris and the others believe Avacta really is the Holy Grail they will be desperate for clinical confirmation so that they can attempt to instil some optimism into a nation which is quickly sinking into self-doubt. They will also want to ensure that we in this the country are the first to benefit by being gradually able to return to public events with a simple, negative printout after a simple self-administered lateral flow test, and they will want to say that family and other gatherings at Christmas will also be possible as long as everyone present can show they are negative after a test. There is so much at stake that the wait must be excruciating for the government and at the same time the pressure on Dr Smith and his team must be almost unbearable as they 'festina lente' which Boris will understand to mean 'make haste slowly'!

Oops! A little spittle sounds more acceptable! Mea culpa (I trust Boris will appreciate the Latin as he scrolls through these posts!!).

Hugh Pym has just mentioned official UK government papers leaked to the BMJ which talk about 3 million tests per day by December and 10 million per day early in the New Year in the UK with an investment of 'tens of billions'. He emphasised that mass daily vaccination is now very clearly the top priority for Boris Johnson and the government and would allow all those who test negative to go about their 'daily business'.

Asked if Christmas was now now effectively cancelled, Mr Johnson said: ‘Whether we are going to get things back to normal at all by Christmas, I’m still hopeful, as I’ve said before, that in many ways we could be able to get some aspects of our lives back to normal by Christmas.

‘I talked just now about how you could do that. Through that Moonshot of daily testing — everybody gets a pregnancy-style test, a rapid turn-around test in the morning, 15 minutes later you know whether you are infectious of not.

‘You may not know whether you are infected or not, but you know whether you are infectious, or not, and that gives you a kind of passport, a freedom to mingle with everybody else who is similarly not infectious in a way that is currently impossible.’

He added: ‘We are aiming for that. We are driving for that. As I have said…we cannot be 100 per cent sure that we can deliver that in its entirety.’

Avacta must surely be the moonshot on which Johnson is gambling Christmas?

I am in VELA too since Wednesday of last week and suggest it is worth a look - as it happens I spent time today researching the company further starting from the website and following links -personally I don't think it has started yet, I am very impressed by the management and their focus. The first RNS will be an inflection point. Not advice or a ramp , just a helpful suggestion given that it has been mentioned already this evening by a couple of other posters. I was initially attracted as there is something a bit like SYME about it.

Back to NCCL which I think has far more potential. I continue to top up and am quietly waiting for the series of RNS announcements which will define its progress and begin to reflect its true value. I find it extraordinary that it remains under the radar of the wider market but that will soon change and, sadly, the herd will arrive chasing their daily rainbow.

Having listened back to ensure that my first impressions were correct as to what Matt both said and implied I am more convinced than ever that he, and I assume his colleagues, see Avacta as the company which has the key to the holy grail. I thought he sounded animated and excited, trying hard not to say more that was politically correct, but the fact that he actually asked rhetorically whether we could hear the excitement in his voice was very significant. He said he was working closely with Oliver Dowden, the Culture Secretary, to allow 'us' back to theatres within weeks if we could self-administer a saliva-based, pregnancy-style test and then show from a print-out that we do not at that time have the virus. He made it clear that it is his firm belief that this type of test, which will be used individually but available as a mass test for the population, is the key to society returning to something closer to normal until there is a vaccine available. Very, very positive interview by someone who is desperate in a good way to be the bearer of excellent news and who believes he can do so pretty soon, unless of course the PM steals his thunder!

Matt answering a question about mass testing to allow the panto season etc to go ahead! 'Holy grail is the pregnancy-style test', that is what he is working towards and sounding very confident. 'If we can get to that position that would transform society......help us to escape from social distancing .... you can hear it in my voice .... that is what gets me out of bed in the mornings.' Sorry, very quick summary, as verbatim as I could manage but clearly talking about Avacta!

Although there is no official answer the common belief is that 911 signals Imminent News. If you google the question you will find the same answer on several sites. Hope that is the case!

Hi, Theosus, thanks for the comment - I was attracted by the background and experience of the new boss, James Normand, the clearing of the decks of the old company, the acquisition of a war-chest and the stated intention of investing in new disruptive fintechs. All that and a shareprice that is so low as to be almost comical.Just a hunch as there is little research which can be done.
Apologies for the o/t comments but I will justify them by reminding myself that I first heard about NCCL from Eyeguy on another board. That was almost 5 years ago and I have been here ever since. I remember telling Eyeguy about a month after I bought in that I would be making a significant donation to a local charity as the NCCL shareprice shot up from 3.4 to almost 10.00 within a few weeks of my first purchases. I will make another donation when it reaches 10.00 again!
I find genuine suggestions for research very interesting and trust my own experience to identify the difference between a helpful tip and an attempt to pump and dump!

My favourite sentence is that ‘the company expects to make further announcements shortly’ in respect of the UK, Europe, the UAE and the US. Excellent news

The earlier RNS said they were planning to raise a minimum of £5 million, they have in fact raised £6 million almost immediately which were allocated to, among others, new Institutional Investors which is always a good sign give the due diligence required before IIs can invesi any company.

If you really believe that, Fuzzbox, I find it hard to understand why you invest in AIM companies. If I thought the same I wouldn't risk my money.

Took the opportunity to pick up another 55443 at 2.334. Happy with that having read carefully the whole of the RNS. A very focussed company with great potential, the extra £5 million will help their expansion plans which will be positive in my view for all PIs who stay with the company for more than a few days!
