Noon according to Radio 4 earlier today

According to Radio 4 just now Boris will be announcing a ‘huge’ increase in daily testing for Covid up to at least 500,000 daily during a lunchtime press conference. He wants people to know if they are clear so that they can return to work. Could be interesting for us.

Excellent comment PAHOO - keyboard warriors with a few moments to spare between uninformed and plain stupid comments should google Ruane and find out a bit about their investment policy and decision-making processes which I don't think include reading this BB as part of their research! I don't profess to understand the science but I do understand the responsibility I have to invest as well as I can for my family's future. I think I will go with Ruane rather than be frightened by those who sadly seem to think this is a good board to populate with their rubbish.

I imagine it is not realistic to hope that we won't have the 'What is taking so long?', 'Get a move on, Al, for God's sake', 'We're losing first mover advantage' crew out in force today. The science is really exciting and the company is at a crucial stage - there will be a series of RNS announcements as and when there is something definitive to announce which has been validated and will stand up to international appraisal and that is just what we need if we are all to profit from Avacta's research not just on its Covid-19 tests but much more widely in the field of cancer research as well. Avacta's saliva test seems to be the focus of a lot of attention worldwide and it is vital that Alastair's team publish the results of their work in a manner that will stand up to scrutiny by their peers. We all want to make money from our investments but to me it is important to remember that this is an investment in something which is really important, it is not a 'get rich quick' scheme.
Thank you to all the really informed posters here who share their knowledge and experience and manage to unearth very helpful links. Everything is looking good and we will see the first definitive results of Avacta's work as soon as they are ready to be published. I am confident it will be worth the wait.

Very interesting that Avacta retweeted this with such a positive comment. The original article is also fascinating and worth a read - there is plenty of competition worldwide for Avacta but also huge and ever-increasing potential markets. I am not sure why Avacta would retweet unless they were fairly sure that they are close to significant announcements. I have bought another 2875 this morning at £1.16 and will probably do the same later.

Best post today, Cazur. The company is 100% committed to its research, trials and eventual commercialisation of its products, each of which will be very beneficial to individuals and to society. Their work will take as long as it takes and the desire by some PIs to make some quick profit is totally irrelevant. There are posters on here who have researched, who believe in the science and trust the scientists and who have decided to invest. I am pleased to have done exactly that and will wait for as long as I feel the company is moving forward. They will not rush their research in order to impress or placate the market, the work they are doing is far too important for that and they cannot afford to cut corners, otherwise the share price will certainly suffer. I do of course want to make money out of my investment but do not believe for one moment that the ‘noise’ on a discussion forum is going to affect my eventual return, assuming of course that the outcome of their work across all their areas of their research turns out to be as positive as we all hope it will be.

I did wonder about what will happen on 14th July - your comment is helpful and from what you say you are expecting a fall no matter how strong trading is. I am hoping that online sales have been strong during the COVID-19 lockdown but am unsure whether the price will react positively or not.

From my limited knowledge the work on antibody tests is not directly relevant to the saliva-based antigen test Avacta is developing which can be taken before any antibodies are detectable - is that that the right response to the tests being discussed in this article from today's Daily Telegraph? I have started to build a position here having thought through the implications of three months of lockdown on buying patterns. The trend towards online purchases seems to be speeding up as the idea of a visit to a soulless shopping centre to look at rows of white goods loses any attraction it might once have had! I am hoping that AO becomes a mini- Amazon specialising in all kinds of white goods as well as electrical goods of all kinds. When Comet opened all over the country it was the future but that seems like a different world and AO and others are the future. Add in 24 hour delivery, 100 days return policy, huge range with price matching and I am banking on AO being a winner.

As internet privacy concerns grow at the same time as more and more businesses and individuals are planning to work remotely with inevitable concerns about the threat of hacking and ever more elaborate digital attacks, companies like Kape seem to be in just the right place at the right time. I will continue to build a position in what seems like a very well-run company.

What seems to be the key to LoopUps's increasing popularity is its emphasis on the security for users of its product. As more businesses, many dealing with sensitive and confidential subjects, increase their use of virtual video communications I can see increasing attention on companies like LoopUp, leaving the likes of Zoom for less significant chats and discussions. I see an excellent future here and will continue to build a position.

Thanks, CF73, I mentioned that October 2017 RNS elsewhere but have not managed to find any reference after the NBO agreement which suggests GE will hold equity. I think the comments below from NCCL's PR company earlier in the month when equity shares were being discussed elsewhere more or less confirm it is only CMEC who will share the equity with NCCL -

Morning, we have always said we expect the funding to come from China given the change in appetite for coal power in the West. We have been very clear GE are our lead technology partner and nothing has changed on this front, they remain actively engaged and fully supportive.

Once again this is frustrating but that is just the way it is, such a major project can only advance at the speed decreed by the government of Mozambique. The project itself is fully backed by EDM and is an integral part of Mozambique’s long-term strategy so investors will wait and traders will sell.
