RE: BT has lost court case!7 Dec 2018 07:09
Hi Faultsman, thanks for your response, I think I do understand some or most of the issues here, I also understand in some ways deficit was self inflicted when BT took payment holidays. Many of the things you wish for I 100% agree with, BT should be a loved institution, oldest telecoms company in the world, what it does behind the scenes for our country and people is incredible, from emergency services to children in need and everything inbeteeen. From an outsiders point of view BT looks quite benevolent to society and staff alike (when compared to other companies). I’m told they have excellent benefits & social / welfare policies to be proud of. I don’t understand why in some cases BT doesn’t get respect for all this or why it shoots itself in the foot, depending on your perspective. I also consider it a privilege to invest my money in this company & hope to see it thrive. Where we disagree is commercialism and capitalism. Commercialism as in BT lives in a competitive world, other companies don’t have these burdens, to compete and stay healthy BT needs to change. During any change stuff goes wrong it’s a fact of life & for my money Bzt has not handled some of it well. Capitalism as in “not all farm yard animals are equal “ as BT operates in the real world I don’t expect anything different & I don’t see BT should be there for the benefit of its staff, ideally I would like to see staff treated best as possible, happy staff work better, but for Bt right now staff numbers are as much a problem as the deficit. So I would say in a commercial world BT needs to compete with companies who don’t have this baggage, choices are U.K. government enforced higher standards and makes every company uncompetitive outside U.K. or BT needs to lower its standards to compete with its neighbours. I know you will disagree, but I thanked you for your views & thought they deserved a response in good faith.
