Exactly, I think everyone who uses charts does so for short term predictions

It’s not a science sairfect. Bit like pre Brexit economists. The numbers and dates might not be correct. It the general direction and path will be close. I would guess it’s not a science because of all the various uncontrollable variables, there’s no way for example economists could have predicted the QE and choices BoE made or world wide up turn, for bt shares the Italian scandle or choices made by our chairman

Hey Avrohom, I wish I knew, probably need to ask Velo to get an informed opinion. My uninformed opinion is either a short exiting or a profit taking sell means the same thing to the market. I guess if we knew the trades were shorters leaving, that might point towards a positive sentiment or as Velo might say “the Bulls are in control of this share”

Surely the saving for staff cuts is more than that? These are manager positions, so the savings surely are wages, pension payments, NI & perks (I know some of these mentioned). Surely this is a 70 to 100k per head saving ? I would say a 40k worker position would be 60k + saving

Hey Avrohom, that might be true, but same could be said for reducing the dividend after making a very big thing about maintaining it, nothing does for creditors then them thinking money isn’t going round. My gut feel is they will maintain it for the minimum possible time then reduce/redeploy funds soon as they can based on previous promises

Avrohom, I personally would not be too disturbed by a dividend drop, but I am concerned by your logic and conflation. The cost of the dividend to BT is circa £1.5bln, the £2bln payment is to do with the pension deficit these are different things, the deficit would still exist and would still attract the same payments whether the divi was less.

I don’t really understand why everyone gets so tied up with the percentage of the dividend. It’s 6.5 to 7 percent at the moment purely because share price is so low. But reality is the cost of the dividend is circa £1.5bln irrespective of the share price or the percentage. To my mind the percentage only matters from the returns perspective because the actual dividend is set to £0.1055 per share, therefore it’s cost to the business is fixed.

Hey Avrohom, I think BT sport is a big deal, having started it I think BT needs to make a success of it. I personally think it’s important for BT to have its fingers in the TV pie. I’d like to see them dominating the internet tv scene. Making it easier to watch standard tv channels online as well as the on demand, catchup, sport and films. I said last week I got myself Apple TV I’d like to see BT with something like that, maybe even cooperate with Apple TV. I can get anything I want & can watch linea TV (free view) too.

Hi Avrohom, I agree, it might be no bad thing. But I’m less than convinced by your argument the divi is not sustainable. Everything I see suggests it is, so a reduction would be more prudent than necessity., it may well be the new ceo will want to portray confidence by keeping divi where it is until Gav’s dividend advice works its way through. Either way I’m comfortable, I’d just like to see who the new guy is and I’d like to see some direction
