Ant1986........nice post, I guess you are one of these investors that only likes to hear positive posts once you buy into a stock? Surely it makes more sense to listen to all views and accept that each and everyone of us has our own view and indeed our own strategy for trying to make money.
I too once thought that CNA was a rock solid share to own paying a nice juicy divi each year. How wring could I have been. Not easy to cut my considerable losses here and try and recover some capital in a very topsy turvy market.....so many bargains out there that at times are moving up and down in excess of 5% per day.
I took the hard decision to move on as I could never see it getting back to my average of 140 any time soon. Now the silverware is all being flogged off maybe never. That said I guess for those that were brave enough to buy back in at 28p these guys will be feeling very happy right now.
Out of interest where do you see CNA being in 6 months time? As I have said before my problem now is trying to put a sensible market price on the company right now. Anyway, I will not lower myself to your childish posts but wish you all the best in your investments for the future.

Come on guys admit it.....the strike here is not really the problem. The problem is someone putting a value on the company after it has sold off all of its silverware and still left with the potential debt of decommissioning nuclear power and Gas rigs.
Someone a lot smarter than me surely can put a price on the company? You just need to look at the performance of CNA shares over the past few weeks, your 43p invested is now worth 43p. What are folk waiting for? A good trading update and confirmation of a special divi? As I said before, a bit like playing roulette here now.
Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel but having made a huge loss here in the past I am not holding my breath......I have traded now twice in the past 2 weeks, that seems a safer bet fir me right now.

Horse.....I agree re occupancy rates. Cunard is the same, everyone desperate to get cruising again once the government give the go ahead to start operations again.
There was a good documentary on channel 4? 5? the other evening and it was interesting to hear everyone without exception to say as soon as things were up and running they would all be going cruising again.

Horse......it is pretty doubtful that any operations in April/May will go ahaed. Cunard have just cancelled my trip to New York aboard QM2 at the end of April saying they have cancelled all grips till the end of May......that was last week before this new covid scare! SAGA is ine of my largest holdings and I am hoping the insurance arm will be a good safety buffer till we can get sailing again.

Raf.......I like you enthusiasm but I think a dividend will be the last thing that CNA need to resume. The cash they hope to get should be used wisely......the majority of it will be used to prop up the under funded pension fund. As for the future price I keep asking you where do you get the £1 price from? It struggled to reach that pre covid and that is when we owned all of the oil assets.....now those have been sold off I would like someone to put a sensible price now on the company.....they are not going to make much flogging their Hive systems and servicing boilers. Don't forget the expensive costs of mothballing their Nuclear power and Morecambe bay gas rigs. Like most of the oilers BP and RDSB they need now to start diversification into renewable energy systems, hopefully any spare cash left over from selling the silverware will be diverted into R&D on that front.
I reckon folk buying now should make a bob or two but I think it will be a long haul back to the days of £1 plus.

The government rarely do a rapid u turn like this.......something has spooked them badly. This could be a doomsday scenario. Take care folks there is real turbulence ahead.

Sharehunter............I bought in at 0.3 and looking for a 10 bagger minimum. It is one of those shares that I have drip fed using dividends from my FTSE 100 shares....Same with BIDS, TEK , RRR and ORPH. One day one will come good. I never get too excited with gains or falls of 20%, it is the big money I am looking for.......Look at the folk that bought NCYT at 5p and within a few months is hit 1250p Miracles do happen.

Ashdata.....Just read it, surely it will explain what is required? Probably to do with your rights issues but as I am not presently holding I cannot be certain.

Anditsgone........one of the most painful things for me is to see the kids that have spent over £100K (funded mainly by loans or the bank of Mum and Dad) to achieve their commercial licenses, and after all that hard intense work of study have achieved their dream only to find no jobs going. One of my fellow captains daughter spent over £100k in achieving her dream, then got a pilots apprentice job with Jet2 only to be told a couple of months ago that her services will no longer be required. She is now working in a bar with little hope of a job flying for a few years I reckon.
As for TUI being a good bet, for sure it is but as I say I am keeping my powder dry right now till these RI shares are in circulation......by then hopefully we will also have a better idea how this pandemic is going to pan out as far as travel is concerned..........as for Brexit......dont get me started!! Andits gone.........I am sure we all appreciate the work you are doing in the NHS. As for my job being glamorous, hardly......too many hours spent sitting around doing hehaw with a few moments of excitement chucked in.
Always good to hear differing views on here on what our objectives actually are. As you day so many good recovery stocks around.....just a question of getting the timing right which sadly I rarely do.

Finally where do you get the bully quote from. I think if you read any of my posts I try hard to be respectful to most of my fellow investors on here which sadly some of you find impossible to do.

RAF.......not sure how you come up with £1+ We were no where near that last year when we had our oil assets and the POO was flying. Now once the oil assets have been flogged off on the cheap to prop up the rest of the company where do you see us going to achieve such a high price? Anyone can pick a number in their head and quote it on here but it would make more sense if you could back up your claim with some hard facts. I am sure CNA will make a slow recovery but after years of mismanagement that recovery will take time. That said what the feck do I know!! I had been buying continuously here over the past 5 years as I thought they were a rock solid company and eventually ended up losing my shirt.

Masaimara.......most professional pilots tend to be a bit coy about what they do.....in reality .it is not like the film Top Gunn . When asked what I do I generally refer to being a Bus driver, as in reality that us what I really am.......in that instance though the bus was an A321 in my previous roll with a holiday airline.......roll on a few years and after my previous employer went belly up I find myself flying corporate jets for a living.
You can believe what you like but those are the facts. As for saying this will fall to €97 I never said that.......what I did say was we will nit really understand the true value of the company till the RI shares hit the market. As with IAG the RI shares equated to 88p and a couple of weeks after the float you could buy IAG at close to 90p from what I recollect.
For me I think TUI is a stonking buy but I am nit ready to jump in right now. Some of my ex crew now fly with them so I have a good idea how things are progressing so when I think the time is right I will make the move.....I may miss out on 20% profit by waiting but wait I will do. Anyway, good luck with your own plan, if you think it is right you must stick with it. Take care and lets hope 2021 rewards us all in more ways than one.

I am sure there are still a few long term holders here like me that started buying this at 30p. Over the past couple of years I have stuck with it and gradually averaged down.....I now find my average just a tad over 8p but now with a considerable holding. Looks like 2021 will at last get me back into the blue and every reason why this should now start to multibag. Good luck folks, stay safe and have a great Christmas.

Letstry...........I trued to make the same point earlier and was shot down by a few. Why oh why buy at this price when you can buy through the back door once the RI shares are floated.....then and ONLY then will you know what is a fair price for TUI. Buying now and exercising your rights is a risky business that could or could not pay off. For the sake of losing a few % gain I am happy to hold my breath and wait and see once the RI shares are floated.
You make a good point too of tying up your RI allocated funds at what you think may be a good price. Another point folk must consider and I fell foul of this with IAG is if you hold shares in your ISA account that has already been fully funded this tax year. If you cannot add extra funds then you may have to sell other stocks held within your ISA to fund the RI purchase......Would folk be happy doing that?

Little point in panicking on any small re trace. I have been in this share since the high £2 era and have been adding as and when I feel the urge. Maybe fir those of nervous disposition should just go off and do your Christmas shopping and not constantly monitor the daily price movements here. What you have to ask yourself is do you want to be holding in January when the trading update is released? I know where I want to be on that day and it is not out of this share.....Remember a month or so ago folk were still buying here at £12.50......those days will return and hopemuch much more......relax, chill, and go and have a mince pie.....life always seems better after a mince pie.
