anyone who thinks that the grid scale energy storage market is going to be dominated by lithium, once Vanadium flow batteries get going, really needs to take a reality check.

Bearishly bullish - yes vanadium flow batteries last many times longer and are much safer at scale so are really optimal for stationary I.e. Grid-scale storage however vanadium may also be valuable in lithium vanadium phosphate batteries which are like existing lithium iron phosphate batteries but have a much higher energy density

Indeed the answer is C) - that is for their least cost generation model. 1b) Follow up question for 10 extra points: if Bushveld energy captures just 25% of this battery capacity with 4 hour VRFB's how much vanadium would this require ? A) 4,000 tonnes B) 40,000 tonnes C) 400,000 tonnes

Thanks CG - another good presentation from Fortune though it did look as if he had just run the length of the conference centre, lol - certainly a lot fitter than many CEOs I would not wish to name. That itself is a pertinent point - but I think that people can start to see what gambit and I saw in Manchester at the vanitec meeting in July 2017- that bushveld is the worlds leading vanadium miner.

Uis was the largest hard rock tin mine in the world (http://crown.co.za/modern-mining-featured-news/6641-afritin-works-to-revive-historic-uis-tin-mine) when it was run by South Africa's Iscor before the international tin crash in 1985 ( https://www.thebalance.com/the-tin-market-crash-of-1985-2339936 )

The tin is still all there, and with modern mapping and grading techniques could easily be removed as a lowest quartile cost producer.

Oh and they've just rejigged the processing equipment so that they can recover tantalite, which sells for 10 times the price of tin ore - this could treble profits, as I've described previously.
