My recollection is that after the Huffington post article referenced problems at Porton Down due to use of frozen samples, PD doubled down and said that there was nothing wrong with their methodology. Some sleuth on this board discovered that the FDA does not agree with the use of frozen samples to validate Covid tests. So, yet again, our path diverges from the FDAs.

Vostick, last Avacta presentation (slide 11) states that:

“Avacta remains engaged with the U.K. Government Procurement Pathway through Porton Down.”
Personally, I took that as meaning that we were engaging with PD to try to fix the issue.

Good question Vostick and I submitted a question to AS at the last Investor Meets Company meeting about asking him to go into further detail about the problems at Porton Down. Sadly it was not one of the questions he chose to answer.

However, he alludes to it in the risks section of the Annual Report (page 55)

In order to participate in tender contracts offered by the UK Government, the AffiDX® SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Lateral Flow Test has to pass an evaluation process at the UK Government’s Porton Down facility. The first stage of the evaluation process does not use the lateral flow test in the manner that it was designed for and there is therefore uncertainty as to whether the test can pass the Porton Down evaluation process which could delay the ability to tender for government contracts. The Group is progressing the clinical validation and CE marking of the product so that sales channels (other than the UK Government) can be exploited regardless of any delays in obtaining UK Government approval or tenders.

One might think that if Gates had a master plan to monopolise the U.K. diagnostics industry and access the best IP, he could have bunged MHRA a few hundreds of millions of £ and leant on them to authorise the mass purchase of Chinese tests which would significantly impact on profitability and share price of both Mologic and Avacta. A buy-out of AVCT at £3 would not be as unwelcome today as it would have been a year ago. You will have next to nothing and you will be happy. (Ignore me, just my conspiracy theory.) I just feel devastated at what has been going on here. Losing money hurts, but not half as much as the realisation of total corruption at the heart of government.

So this is a consultation document for which the consultation period ended on May 5th. The next stage is to pass legislation through Parliament to implement these guidelines “using the Medicines and Medical Devices Act to establish a regulatory regime which will require manufacturers of COVID-19 tests to independently validate the performance of their tests in order for these to be placed on the UK market.”

Does this mean that it has to go through the normal law-making processes of Parliament rather than being rushed through under emergency Covid powers? (More delay?)

I would rather that they did their main job better and didn’t authorise the ‘repurposed’ Innova tests for home use and then extend their use when the FDA said they should be binned.

A very fair point LDA. I am still torn between believing that Avacta has been shafted by HMG (whether as a result of incompetence or corruption) or whether they have been complicit for some inexplicable reason to do with ‘greater powers’ even than national government. But certainly we should ask the questions.

Sounds promising MrsKOB. Let’s hope Labour latches onto it tomorrow. They seem remarkably incapable of recognising where they could be landing punches.

Why hasn’t Labour picked up on it then? We’ve certainly emailed enough Labour MPs about this matter. There really is a deafening silence. After FDA recall-gate, the media has gone straight back to supine spoon-feeding mode.

Why is the public not being told that there are both accurate antigen and antibody tests available? The Government is in the process of creating the two-tier society that it vowed it would never do.

I have no doubt that Boris is very proud of the vaccine roll-out – and rightly so. But making the process mandatory with punishments for failure to comply will inevitably backfire – both in terms of public approval now and in the future as people rail against a coercive approach to healthcare.

It has not gone unnoticed that each time a new age group has become eligible for vaccination – suddenly there is a media story about Covid risks to that age group. Now we are targeting the younger groups, it's all about nightclubs and long Covid. Given that these vaccines are still being administered under emergency use authorisations, I fail to see the justification for using them on children. Where are the long term studies that show this is safe?

Just as the relentless media onslaught sounds increasingly cynical the longer it goes on 'nudging us', Boris is sounding more and more like a broken record in his crazed obsessional vaccine pronouncements. His 'jab jab jab mantra is now every bit as annoying as Theresa May's 'strong and stable leadership'. Please tell him to change the record and please also remind him of the alternative 'test, test, test' (which only works with accurate test devices.)

It's just a rant really. I still hadn't replied to the stock response about Innova and now we have the prospect of mandatory vaccines, so I combined the two in this letter:

Dear Kemi,

I was disappointed to hear that you were 'satisfied' that the government had 'repurposed' Innova for home use in the UK for mass testing of the asymptomatic in flagrant contradiction of the original manufacturer's instructions.

In my view, 'repurpose' is a disingenuous word for a criminal counterfeiting exercise undertaken by PHE. Innova's tests were never intended for anything other than professional use on the symptomatic. As a result, they throw up many false negatives as people can't use them properly and now nobody trusts a lateral flow test to deliver an accurate result. My own daughter took an Innova test for 10 consecutive days and was declared negative. A confirmatory PCR test taken on day 5 indicated otherwise.

I notice that you didn't accord me the same courtesy that I gave you by backing up your assertions of the safety of Innova. (Remember that the FDA recalled this 'dangerous' device in the USA.) You simply told me that your colleagues were satisfied and therefore so were you. It seems that our MPs have the same intellectual rigour as our journalists these days.

I further notice that we are now also buying the Orient Gene tests, mentioned in your letter, which also come from China. Why are we still not placing orders with the UK diagnostic industry that Boris claims to be 'working night and day to support'.

No matter how infuriated I am with the profligate waste of taxpayers money on Innova and Test & Trace, this scandal pales into insignificance compared with Boris's latest outrage. The threat to refuse access to the 18+ age group to night clubs and other venues unless double vaccinated is a step too far. Whatever happened to the concept of bodily autonomy or medical privacy? Are these no longer human rights?

Please could someone post the link again? (I’ll get my daughter and her student chums onto it. None of them trusts Innova.)

Let’s face it, Han**** and Dido between them have completely wrecked public confidence in Test & Trace. What a phenomenal waste of money. They have done everything possible to make it a self-fulfilling prophesy that the vaccine is the only route to freedom.
