It's the disingenuous use of the word 'repurposed' that gets me. What was carried out was a deception of epic proportions and which has undoubtedly cost lives as a result of false negatives.

When the history of this Covid pandemic gets written (by the victors), I wonder whether the fact that DHSC became the 'manufacturer' of the tests will be sufficient to hoodwink people into the idea that they were manufactured in the UK?

They were certainly 'repurposed' in the UK!

May I suggest that it would be good to call out HMG regarding lack of transparency for the daily Covid case numbers that are trotted out daily without context. My suggestion (and feel free to add nuances and vary the question is…..

Covid testing using PCR technology

What is your FOI Request?
I would like to know what PCR Cycle Threshold (CT) is currently being used to ascertain the number of Covid cases in the UK and whether it is in line with WHO recommendations.
I would also like to know what the CT rate has been historically over the past 18 months and the dates upon which the threshold rate has changed.

Honestly, the key thing we need to know is what CT number they are using. (See response to Greenlabel).

This is my point. even Anthony Fauci agrees that anything above 35 will give false positives.

You are all free to post FOI requests and I urge you to do so. I strongly suspect that our mass mailing to MPs got them anxious and they have all been waiting for the ‘official’ line from DHSC before responding. Let’s now pile the pressure on DHSC. We want them to know that we know what’s going on.

@Doze, That’s why I want to establish what CT they are using now and whether they are using PCR in accordance with the 27CT / WHO recommendations. The point is that we are told about rises and falls in case rates with zero transparency about whether the goalposts are moving.
