Al dropped saliva because John Bell became ‘concerned’ about hamburgers. I believe Al chose plastic casing because the Gov had ‘concerns’ about cross contamination. We could probably have had a simple paper strip spit test out last Summer, but the Gov stymied us by repeatedly moving the goalposts. What’s more, AS only informed the market about the abandonment of the saliva version when put on the spot by Huffington Post. It’s all very murky.

Epping. Schools are currently relying on a test with 53% sensitivity! This one has passed ISO quality standards and PHSC has now had a memory lapse about spit contamination.

Epping, read the link. They are targeting schools, prisons, airports etc, just like Avct.

In other words, they already comply with the new test evaluation requirements which now include saliva as an acceptable sampling method.

Weedylan, you must have missed the news last week that a Cambridge company has created a test based on gold nanoparticles that had S&S of 100%. What’s more, they have their own manufacturing capacity:

Ironically, they opted not to faff around with plastic casing, so they will also win orders from ESG/environmentally concerned businesses (which is all of them these days.)

To be fair, this vindicates NDN. We need a larger clinical validation or we won’t pass this requirement.

@Metatron, I’m betting on mass antibody testing in Sept/Oct to persuade everyone that they need a booster. Gov has already been doing small scale studies. RNS yesterday at ABDX/ODX claiming their test AbC-19TM is able to detect different levels of antibody response to the AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines as well as those post-infection. SAGE will set the level at which everyone is in danger - and off we go.

Investing here has lost me a lot of money, but opened my eyes.

Mowzer, I agree with everything you say. The big question it poses for me is Why did Avacta not join voices with Mologic when they threatened to sue U.K. Gov?

For whatever reason, it is now apparent that U.K. Gov never wanted an accurate LFT. Maybe it would have put an early end to a pandemic and national panic that has made some people mega-rich. My feeling now is that AS’s involvement in Gov discussions was aimed at hushing up Avacta.

Question now is what was he offered in return? “Stay silent on this and we won’t interfere with your prodrug trials”?

Given the uniqueness of Parsortix, AGL is following a De Novo FDA process, as there is no predicate device. Consequently, there is inherent uncertainty over the timing of the process but news is expected soon.

Given the Government’s abysmal record on decision making during this pandemic and its obsession with getting us all vaccinated, would anyone put it past them to order a mass antibody testing exercise?

A rather technical Lancet paper was picked up by media around the globe with the headline: “Antibody weakens 2-3 months after both doses: Lancet study” and reaching the conclusion that: “A booster dose is going to be the next in-thing after two mandatory jabs against Covid-19”.

I would not put it past those behavioural scientists in SAGE to argue that a home use antibody test showing a fall in immunity would be just the thing to drive people to get their booster. I know it sounds crazy, but …..
