I will willingly admit to the possibility that the 'newbies' may know more about the way the stockmarket is now currently operating. Hence their (and your) sudden appearance.

But their knowledge and understanding of the Lancaster oilfield, the technical details, and its overall importance to the UK oil industry, is severely lacking.

Some people contributing here DO know about such stuff. I'm just one of them (says he, immodestly). My own hands-on oilfield knowledge helps, of course. But nevertheless, it takes a lot of time to get a proper 'handle' about what's going on. Being LTH in Hurricane is to my mind like holding shares in Dyson. 'Cept he never went public. But also, he didn't have to, because making a vacuum-cleaner which actually works isn't quite on the same financial magnitude as drilling a few oilwells west of Shetland, acquiring a big boat to produce from a couple of them, and parking it there.

You're just demonstrating your oilfield ignorance. The correct technical term (s) would be either 'reopen' or 'open up' ( the well).

There's nothing to 'turn on'. Unless the ESP's are brought into play, once the well's been reopened. But even then, they're not 'tunded on'. They're 'activated'.
