TMS , do you realise you come across as a bully. Every single one of your posts is derogitory or highly insulting .
What happened to the regular informative information and expertise and predictions on the chat you always gave which I valued. It doesn’t benefit you to lower yourself to others. Rise above and go back to who you were before . Block the haters and then contribute positively and insightful posts for the rest that want to hear what you have to say .
Well done on reaching retirement Oli. You were with Royal Mail in The good old days when business was booming . You’re out at the right time .
Enjoy your pension that you have worked very hard for and don’t worry too much about some of us still building up blocks in the CSDB that won’t amount to very much by the time I get it lol.
RE: PanoramaToday 19:11
ABRoyalMail, this may sound like a bizarre thing however you have to ask why the managers didn't get involved or even train their cohort?
Perhaps you are trying to allude the fact that RM don't really need managers, or at least nowhere near as many?
Hi oli , Royal Mail needs decent managers and a decent workforce that work well together to bring the state of the company back to where we used to hold it in high regard many years ago . We have poor managers . We also have poor staff none on that combination go well hand In hand . But when you have decent managers that actually know what they’re doing , and decent staff that know their job then you have a winning combination that benefits the customer . I’ve been in this game too long not to realise that when you’re missing either of those key links it’s a recipe for disaster . Wouldn’t it be a wonderful world where managers need their stuff and so did the staff . When I first started 27 years ago you had a flood of posties and hog’s with a wealth of talent , skills and knowledge , but the business was all to happy to let that go with vr’s . And with that terrible move they lost the 3 salient points I just mentioned . Talents skills and knowledge . You can’t buy that . It comes with years of training and dedication . That we know just too well . Same goes for managers and those who control the work area’s . You have a poor leader and then you have poor results .
You have a poorly trained workforce then how can the business expect good results . I don’t know if it’s the same in your office , but when I started there was p.40
Sortation checks for speed and accuracy . There was expert staff who could look at a poorly addressed letter and know the postcode it went to , nowadays it’s postcode sorting and any postcode that isn’t on a letter out newer staff suffer , half of them don’t even bother looking up addresses . That’s the business fault .
We have work place coaches that are not released from their normal year round role and want to make a difference but can’t . We have a revolving door of Angard , in my office we have brand new starts every other week starting at day 1. How can the expectation be that they can deliver value for money for the business when all Angard wants is squad rotation so everybody gets a shift . No .!
Peronsally I want my most knowledgeable
Angard doing the jobs they have been routinely left on to get their speed and skills up. I get lambasted for that as I’m not being fair . I don’t care about fair . I want best bang for royal mails buck . It’s a pity senior management won’t see this as a positive
“We had 4 agency guys who just stood around when the wagons came in,hadn't got a clue so we told them just to go a sit in the canteen till all the IPS was sorted.”
Could have taken you less time to show them what needs done so they can help instead of sending them to the canteen . But you will see that it’s not your your job, but you’re contributing to the waste of finances within the company without even realising it. I’m not sure either helps the state of Royal Mail
I was recently at a Royal Mail event with Ricky McCauley and the director of sales . Peak itself wasn’t huge , but they made a great point. Peak now isn’t just 4 weeks at Xmas (weeks 36 -39) it now extends all the way back into the start of November now when volumes spike . In their words , “peak is now over about 8 or 9 weeks”. Interesting

What an absolute shi*t show, for something that is so easily managed. Give these people an even bigger bonus, for failure.
Like the backdated pay you get for going on strike and bringing the business to its knees . Enjoy that. Also the £900 next pay day for the pension money coming back to you . Such a terrible place to work . I’m surprised you’re not leaving already , oh that’s right , you already know which side your bread is buttered on and how easy you have it I. The reality of working I. The common society . It’s not a difficult job when you have had proper training and follow the rules like you say . Just do what your manager says . It’s on them. But I fear everything you do is tainted with a wish of retribution for your employer
@ispy , paying people through a pda ? Are you for real ?
There are so many variables in the real life of a postie that paying through a pda is a total waste of time . You know that already tho mate . 😉
@ ispy .

you should be a manager mate . i bet you’re like the guy i. the football stadium , screaming at the footballers that doesn’t run enough of defend well enough for your liking . perhaps you should go on the field of play and show us how it’s done if it’s that easy. well it isn’t that easy and if it was everyone would be lining up for such an easy job . when you have a hierarchy not in touch with its people , you get discontent and such , not only discontent but an eagerness to hate and to shovel negativity onto everyone. not all people come with discontent and negativity . we have both workers here long enough to know how royal mail works . it’s a good company trying to do good things . but when the people at the top don’t understand the sentiment of the people below it’s a **** show . why don’t you put your head above the parapet and lead the way. there is never anything so much difficult as a new order of doing things , the trick is to be the one who wants to and will do things differently , not the one who says it’s easy to do thing differently. their voice is the quietest when it comes to doing.
“No one should be happy the traffic is falling off “. There will be some on here absolutely delighted that the business who keeps a roof over their head and money in their wallet will be suffering. What they don’t understand is that less volume = less people . And the very people who delight in such thing won’t be able to sustain their own family and livelihood. I don’t understand some people . Surely the best course is heavy volume , busy periods , great balance sheet and demand for more hours . If you don’t see that as being as positive for the business then you should not be I the business . Just saying.

I’ve been back on the thread for about a week and reviewing the comments with interest . I’ve never seen anything like this in all my years at Royal Mail .
SP is falling and probably will continue until there is stability . And there’s not a lot of that within the company right now .
Rollercoaster Royal Mail shares and I’m looking now to come back in and buy at this price .
AB .
Sold the last of my remaining free shares around Thursday last week before they took the recent dive. The money will come in handy .
Still hold my save as you earn shares that I will wait 5y until they are tax free . Good luck everybody .
Hi all , I just wanted to ask , when a company joins the 100 does the rule of thumb generally mean the stock value increase to match the promotion. ?
I expect with this share it will do the exact opposite as it’s supposed to, as it has since it floated lol .
Totally correct Casper . I like to think the mindset of the small investors were , “well I’m not walking away with a loss” and they held on , till now , and are staring at a £5.50 when they invested at £3.30( share price for RM employees investing in the early years.
The very mention that an office would be hit with a enforcement notice is proof the office have been lax in their application of the rules. We still need to take care. The managers of that office should be heald accountable if they didn’t follow the rules
Hi Oli, what you have experienced is not the same as me.we are still extremely tight with PPE rules and everyone up here still following the government guidance
This will have a huge gain on productivity within the business . Due to COVID a number of changes have been made which is best for the health and safety of each person in a Royal Mail building . With this relaxing of rules we begin to see 2 people In a van, smaller bullrings in mail centres, greater and closer collaboration between colleagues which breeds slicker ways of working will before the company . Especially in the post COVID age. We’re not there yet , but another step in the right direction In terms of productivity I feel for Royal Mail
Never ceases to amaze me ... up down up down. . Hats off to the professional traders out there . I don’t think I have the cahonies of steel to do this day in day out feeing that rollercoaster ridge going up is awesome , coming down not so awesome as going the other directions
Long may it continue .
Paper car, there are always 2 sides .
You may look at it like that , I look at it as experienced people projecting and contemplating the next market moves. Whatever is your thing.
