Hi Tony , personally I think there is mileage still after £5. Too much still going on with modernisation across the business and automation to hold it at current price . Throw in the profit they are saying £700 million . This has a way to go yet until it hits its levelling point . I am not a prof trader so take this with a pinch of salt though lol

Hi Tony , in my own opinion , I’m holding, until I see the price once we have gottenthe big parcel sort centre up and running . the union are onboard and the threat of strike action out to one side now. Covid will still be here for the short term at least , the dividends could be back soon er than we think , volumes and profit going in the right direction , also knocking on the door of the ftse 100 and the fruitcake out of the house that is white has settled the market. All this for the better. Short to kid I’m holding although I may sell a couple of shares and take a little more profit as it does feel nice lol

Perhaps Mr Thompson will come up with a re-branding of the company and then be able to say that was the old Royal Mail this is New RM.

Just as long as they don’t rebrand to consignia. We know how well that worked out. !! Ha ha

I would say volumes are lower than what we have been seeing the last 6 or 7 weeks , however still high for the time of year when you look at year on year . I think the amount of people still on royal Mail sites is mopping it all up making it look easy . We need to reduce the overspend in hours and gain control of the efficiency again. Quality of service in MC is high with too many hours. Also to factor in - my personal opinion , paid people are skint just now having had Xmas and new year . I honestly expect numbers to rocket again once monthly paid people are flush again .

Last 3 weeks or so I’ve sold about 250 shares and took a profit. Feels nice . I know that’s peanuts to you investors but making money feels good lol

I’d hope they would come across as a poster who has experience in the company putting forward their point of view only .being physco analytical ....Usually people who like to try and demean other people’s intelligence without knowing very much about them aren’t very clever themselves . Just a thought .

Perhaps the new CEO is a friend touted for big things that DK was in the know , DK likes his friend and where things are headed now an agreement is in place for the mid term and can see it going places mid term . Has more confidence in the future and willing to invest a bit more in the short term to take the profit later .

Perhaps he got COVID , was bedded for ages , couldn’t invest while under the weather , had some porridge oats , feels better : buys more stock . Is that lateral enough ?

Hi Shauny, up AB, this week just past , post Xmas, was our second busiest week of the year. Can’t talk for everyone else but we were proper busy

Never , in my RM life, have I seen the amount of parcels being sent as I did today. Specials , tracked , normal . . Absolutely mental.

RM need parcel sequencing machines.....lol

I’m hoping that’s phase 2 of it . We can’t just put them into mc’s. We need them doing sequenced parcels !!

Parcel sorting machines.. parcels are taken by hand from post office in a sack and put into a van by postman.. postman take sack to office... sack gets put in a York for later pick up .. lorry driver puts yorks into lorry and takes to mail center.. gets unloaded pushed to where it needs to go... what happens next with a sorting machine?

How do parcels get on/ into machine? They are loaded onto conveyor belts direct from the York container

Where do parcels end up? In a sleeved York container for the Mail centre

Another york or bin? Then put somewhere else etc.

Will the machines actually save money ? Great question . I think they will but just an opinion . I’ve done the math with the people needed to operate the machine (depending on size of course - approx 12 people , against the same people sorting parcels by hand versus what the machine design throuput is. We will save money if it runs all day . If it runs for a tiny portion of a day then it will be wasted. I think for me personally the question is , how do we divert Mail to a parcel machine ssorting centre to keep it going 24/7 . I think that is the key to success

Still going to need lots of people to work it and in the office to receive and distribute parcels to the different walks . I agree . But then phase 2 of parcel sort should be small scale PSM built for purpose delivery walks. Like what css brought to letters .

also who programmes and looks after them ..what about power cuts? I dont think the modernisation in royal mail has saved any time over the last 21 years I've worked for them... I get your drift , it’s difficult to see the benefits in some things .

Well done everyone if that was your target to get out. Pleased for you . I’m on slightly longer as I’m thinking there is more in this still . the Introduction of the parcel sort machines will still have a positive impact . And with the cwu and Royal Mail working together over a decent length of a pay deal 3yr / 5yr . that will settle those negotiations for a good few years to let the business focus on where we need to with everyone on side . Let’s not forget , during this journey at no point have the cwu been on board with where we are going with parcels , now hopefully that won’t be an issue .

I wonder if Royal Mail would cease letter delivery Saturday and instead have parcel only delivery .

And somehow still satisfy the criteria , still , of a six day week delivery . Pretty much all bases covered . If Ofcom agree that is
