Mandy you’re the touchy one. You are aggressive toward anything pro Bt or specifically a view differing from your own. You’re allowed your views , so is everyone else. Challenge, don’t attack.

Fleccy keeps the debate going with his posts. I’m not reading much else constructive from regulars against him. Whether you agree with his views or not , he is trying to put forward constructive posts or posting information from the web that is relevant and recent.

You guys rarely if ever post constructive alternative comments or articles.

You can’t complain that someone who is heavily invested in Bt posts regular constructive yet positively biased comments. He puts his money where his mouth is. What do you really expect someone who repeatedly buys shares to think? The stock is trash? Why would he buy or be here?

At least try to put constructive posts together as to how Bt recovers , if you’re stuck in at a loss.

Or sell yours shares, get out, crystallise your loss, and post somewhere else or do something better with the remainder of your life.

You lot seem to argue more when the share price drops.

When the share was at 160p earlier this year no arguing.

160p is also low. In fact, it’s too low to sell, too high to buy or reinvest.

Why are people arguing when they won’t sell at 112p or 160p? What’s the difference? It won’t stay at 112p forever. At least down here we can reinvest cheaply. What can we do at 160p? Even less.

Just sit and wait , if investing worked short term

Everyone would be buying and selling at huge profit.

Because we can’t time the market it tends to take years for our buy low sell high strategies to work.

Have patience and as Fleccy said either reinvest divis or take them and enjoy or reinvest elsewhere in the meantime.

We will surely be having a different discussion in a couple years.

I appreciate all the issues mandy raised in his last post as to what could go wrong but that’s what happens investing in stocks. That’s why prices go up and down and why returns are greater for any number of risks. All of which should be temporary with a resilient company like Bt.

I don’t refer to it as ‘averaging down’

Each investor is different. Some may average down.

I use the term accumulate. I used to have 30,000 shares and during the pandemic I did not top up. After I wished I had, as I wanted to accumulate a larger holding as a second income supplement to my salary and my pension contributions.

The dips in share price are an opportunity to accumulate in my eyes. We can’t time every buy.

My purchases have all been under 150p, divi reinvestments, saveshare and direct share.

I also buy stocks in other sectors. My intentions are to accumulate in my younger years based on a belief and investment case of it being worth it long term.

Got to agree, we won’t see a return of trading or our funds here. It’s gone.

Hoping for cheap top ups is dependent on the particular stock.

Theory states we should only hope for price increases. It’s more nuanced than that.

Bt is a long term play, so short term increases will just be fluctuations so we would benefit from low reinvestment in the short term.

Hoping doesn’t dictate the market.

If the shares rise I simply look to top up a different stock with my Bt dividend.

I only have £950 in here, but bought at 1750 and reinvested my dividend. Onwards and upwards.

Really hoping this stays low until my divi is reinvested. I know people think that’s stupid but I don’t care!

SP will open relatively unchanged. All we need , buying at these prices, is continuity and to stay above water, until rates inevitably reduce over the next two years.

If you want a quick Buck I wouldn’t buy, but if you want long term growth, I would be ploughing everything in here. Rates won’t drop to 0.5% again but even 3.5-4% long term and this will rocket back up.

To clarify I intend to reinvest this next dividend payment

I personally hope the share price can remain at this level until the 5.4p is paid, after that I really could do with starting to take cash dividends and so would be pleased to see a recovery toward the 170 range which seems a reasonable price until 2026

Not much chance of drahi or dt buying Bt. Rampers and desperates push that line.

Fleccy is the number one person on here I look to read comments of. His investment strategy is basically the same as mine, a belief in strategy, the fundementals and the reinvestment and compounding.

But what I see in Fleccy is the same flaw I see myself. Cheap shares allow reinvestment in perpetuity, but instead of reinvesting in cheap shares in perpetuity , we would be better served by £3 tomorrow,and a bull market and sell, and wait for the next fall and reinvest the lot.

The way Bt shares have fallen, rose with mediocrity and fallen again - stagnation - we haven’t had that opportunity. Other ftse 100 stocks have had this, or have had growth over the years just gone.

Ex dividend is 03/08.
