My intention wasn’t to reinvest in Bt as I am over weight , However as the share price was 118p on reinvestment I decided to do so.

Going forward I would prefer not to reinvest my dividends in BT . I will be reinvesting my dividend in something else unless the stock market rallies and everything goes up, in which case I will leave my cash in the isa and wait for a future opportunity.

I have shares in LGEN TW BDEV IDS.

I would invest my dividend in one of those.

If Bt remains low or goes lower I would consider reinvesting again. Each time I am due a dividend I assess whether to reinvest and where. It isn’t just a case of all in BT.

If I was someone else with less shares in BT , I would keep reinvesting in Bt but it would still be dependent on the share price . Eg under 160p

A lot of the pain being felt with many stocks is related to high interest rates. That’s going to take a few years to subside. The economy will likely recover before the stock market. The two aren’t linked. Until then most stocks with debt , which is most ftse stocks, will suffer.

Bt should recover with the market and reduced capex. But £5 a share is unlikely again.

I have a mix of different ways I bought shares. 1/2 the holding is no scheme. Some is divis. I see both sides.

Mandy yes it can be risky. I think what has to be considered is saveshare and direct share purchases. Plus how old are people buying?

As long as one day I can sell at a profit and collect divis 80% of the time , then surely not much else matters? No one can play a perfect game with stocks. Otherwise we would all have bought every share at 90p and not various prices and reinvestments.

I think your concern is possibly you have quite a high average price , and you’re in retirement age. So you’re concerned it will be difficult to recover and how long it will take. Those are legitimate concerns but not everyone falls into your category.

My £900 in this stock is now only worth £330.

Will I ever see £900 again?

I think £5 would be very unlikely in the next 5 years , potentially after 10 years.

The goal should be £2.50-3.50.

I think I would be selling half my shares at £3.

I get your humour , it’s a bit like mine except I’ve not got the energy for it on here that often.

Like I’ve said our strategies are different. Just do as we please.

I wouldn’t buy anything I wouldn’t hold for 10 years if I had to. Such as price drops.

We all bought shares in here at some point.

If you buy shares be prepared to hold them for 10-30 years. I have owned half my shares since the 2008 crash , and the other half over the last 2 years.

Therefore , I have on average held them less than 10 years. My average is ok and I’m happy to wait while I accumulate more dividends.

If you were happy to buy at £5 a share, you should think that they are a steal at £1.16, or otherwise why did you invest in the company to begin with?

Over the last few days while mandy has been typing on here constantly , I’ve been doing jobs and ran 12km as well as nice swims and hot tub.

Point I’m making, doubt there’s an agenda against Bt

Fleccy just because a phone box or other Bt street furniture is installed on council / public land, doesn’t mean they then own the land it sits on. They have a right to it remaining in place once LPA agreed.

If they want to change the shape or size of the structure or the use of a structure on that piece of land, a new LPA application would be needed.

Therefore it’s the same as any other company when it comes to a new application, and would others be granted for similar or other structure at that location ? Do Bt have first dibs to that patch of land and electricity connection point?

The answers to these questions are no. Phone boxes or fibre connection points were much more important to pass by LPA when they were granted, than an advertising board is now.

Why would you choose Bt as a stock to ‘trade’ presumably if you wanted to check out at 121p you hadn’t held long. This is a stock you buy to hold for divis and growth in SP. Assuming you think that will happen, unlikely mandy.
