Sirius, would an 11bn mcap with a pe ratio of 11 (to keep the sums simple on my phone) mean 1bn profit per annum? Which could easily be achieved with 200million units sold at £5 profit per unit. Given many tests per year needed it should be very easy to achieve 200mil units in terms of sales. And that's with a pe ratio of just 11. A more normal pe might be 25 to 30 to account for growth, so either very few sales or a much higher valuation. Assuming my use of pe ratios vs mcap and share price is correct.

Doze, I believe i've had it, no loss of smell or taste, my wife also had it, no loss, just the fever, coughing, got better, got worse. As to it being a built in test, aside from not everyone having that symptom, it may take several days to arrive in which case you are wandering around with no symptoms but being a carrier.

Comek, vaccines prevent infection, therefore your original statement that you test so that you only give it to those that have it is wrong, once they have it, it is too late for a vaccine. At that point you need something curative not preventative.

You do give vaccines to non-infected people, that's the point of a vaccine to stop them becoming infected, that's literally the use case for a vaccine.

Spain has had a bad time of it, the current estimates are that only 5% have had covid, and therefore may be immune, the remaining 95% will need testing. No reason to think they are any different.

Personally I would expect minimal growth in the new company as they would already be very large, you may get dividends. However this then means that your portfolio is likely to be very unbalanced towards one company with the risks that this carries. What if a lawsuit emerges from an historic product (think talcum powder or whatever it was), your new investment could be damaged. So think of the new company as an investment in it's own right, it's not avacta anymore, none of those reasons apply. Would you really invest perhaps several hundred thousand in that one company, are you happy with their background, their prospects, how safe is their dividend etc. How does it look in your portfolio. Personally for me that company at any reasonable take over value would be far far too large and I'd want to minimise the future risk by spreading it out, probably into fixed income and trackers so that exposure to singular events is minimised, but that's at my stage in life. I might keep a little aside as cash for a cheeky multibag attempt.

Degsy, your last statement I believe to be true, they can isolate, they have not yet, which is what some people were saying. The reason for being picky is that when, later, they say that they have isolated things then people will be confused about what happened when they previously thought it, and it may have a negative rather than a positive impact.
