Crazy low price what with £11m cash no debt decent cash flow and a give away mrkt value. So here's the 'BUT' its stuck in an awfully cut throat competitive sector which will throw up opportunities to expand on the cheap so to speak.
Am in on a joint on a 6 month view.

WINE now worth £40m after a strong recovery, double VINO's £20m.
VINO and WINE now have very similar Mkt. Cap. after WINE's plunge. Just hope VINO isn't finding things as difficult as WINE is.

The real winner with VINO would appear to be Virgin Enterprises Limited who get an undisclosed royalty based on sales subject to an annual minimum which increases each year with CPI. This right to use the name (which is UK + Ireland only) ceases in 2029. I can't find any references to the %, but I am guessing its somewhere around 3-5% of sales - and presumably on all sales including those introduced by partners and non-consumer sales.
If this is the case, it is staggering that the company listed at the value it did and it would seem that the current valuation is still relatively generous in today's market.

Obvious listed competitor is WINE who appear to be struggling.
Hi BD, it has gone up quite far as you say. the director buys a few days ago is a really good sign. who are the competitors in this space?
It's since risen 34% but no other comments! And, so far, no sign of its major competitor going bust but time will tell.
I bought this week on the grounds that it's valued @ £19m with £5.5m in the bank and no debt. A PE of 4.5 looks cheap and there are less than 56m shares in issue with 61% NIPH. More importantly, if its major competitor should sink under a mountain of debt then VINO must pick up thousands of new customers DYOR

88p you mean, not 153
The last message was on may 20th 2022 and the price was 153.00p that’s a massive decline!
Any info?

I was a bit miffed when I ordered an introductory case of wines from Virgin Wines a few months ago, they subsequently debited my card for £25 to build up my "wine bank". Told them no thanks and the £25 was refunded immediately, the wines were good but I don't want to be charged month on month for wines that I have not ordered !!
It could be a guess based on the price paid ? low sell high buy ??
Yep I think that’s a correct explanation. Worrying as I assume LSE just get a data download from the Stock Exchange itself. Makes you wonder how share price algorithms and movements are actually calculated!
Mine (Buy) was listed as a sell on this site also !
Might be showing as a sell - that does happen sometimes!

Got it . (Thanks SC )
DErampers and shorters . Get in there !
It's an exceptionally basic business, they have zero geographic diversification & are thus completely exposed to the impending cost of living squeeze in the UK.
Where is their competitive moat? What sets them apart from any new entrant undercutting them on price? Do they have brand power to pass on rising input & delivery costs? None, nothing & no would be my answers. Avoid.
I agree jed.
I think there is more to this than meets the eye .
Does seem a very big drop of -22% for an rns which is not bad.

could be in the red today,
Due to the uncertain trading and macro environment, coupled with numerous headwinds in relation to increased cost pressure, the Group now expects revenue and profit for the year ending June 2022 to be slightly below consensus market estimates.
And I have my fingers and toes crossed
Thursday 3 February
Virgin Wines UK PLC Trading Statement

It will be interesting to see if we face the same issues obtaining stock that Naked Wines has declared, or if their problems push customers our way.
Though I note they have increased their inventory up 50% from last years levels, so it may have just been skewed reporting.

The policy of selling by case only could be inhibiting. Punters are wine savvy these days and might want more flexibility. There’s a mass of fierce competition out there.
I would be grateful if someone would explain the RNS today regarding the notification which appears to have had an impact on the share price . Thanks

This is a screaming buy at £2 a share.

With heavy advertising from Laithwaites currently, do you think this will lose us customers, or get more customers into the habit of buying their wine online/monthly?
informer, I believe in this company. Especially because of Brexit. Where we used to find decent wines on supermarket shelves, that will soon change once they are sold off and we'll import over-priced plonk diluted with acids and made tasty by adding sugars. At least Virgin Wines has provided a standard of high quality for 20 years and I look forward to VINO expanding into new beers and spirits.
thanks a lot Toonman and Mousekewitz
informer365 this is what I could find on their website. The share holder infos are still a bit hidden on there and you have to scroll down quite a lot to get to any numbers. Hope this helps for now: https://wp-virginwines-2021.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/media/2021/01/25122243/Virgin-Wines-UK-plc-Admission-Document.pdf
informer365 - In the near future VINO will provide the market with some financial information on how it is trading. At that point private investors will know what we have here and we will have some sort of metric to value the shares. As of now the institutional shareholders who bought into the flotation will know a lot more than anyone else. Given the strange world we have lived in for the last year or so I would be surprised if an online wine supplier like VINO has not traded well. In fact they could not have had a successful flotation on the stock market (it was heavily oversubscribed) if they had not been trading well.
I tend to seek out newly floated companies as they tend to be undervalued. I hasten to add that there are occasions when that is not the case and I am not ramping! Good luck!
Has anyone actually done some DD on this stock to see if it's fair price?
Or is this a 'good story' stock?
Disclaimer: I haven't done any DD, feeling lazy, hoping someone has so i can see their bull/bear arguments.
Thanks!

Well, himace, that's my kind of share. Buy into it when it's very young, the company already been well established for 20 years, then lean back and let slowly turn vintage :-) . Refill here and there, skim the cream off every so often that's it :-)
Nice touch free bottle of champers with next order, to celebrate this listing
...to be here pretty much right from the beginning. Did all my research after I first found out that Virgin Wines would be launching on London Stock Exchange and glad to be here so early :-)

type " buy wine online uk" into your browser and see which company comes up 1st
Thanks and good luck to you too, Newday. Hope your drinking habit hasn't gotten as bad as mine during the fake pandemic.
Good morning JackBlackburn! Nice to meet you! The longer lock-down goes on the more Virgin wines me and the Mrs drink :-) It will be interesting to see their finance sheet, I bet it's gonna be a whopper this year. Anyway good luck with your investments.
This was a surprisingly big starting price, I think but trading has got off to a flying start. I f it keeps up, I hop we'll all be cracking open a few bottles of Virgin VINO.
