I dont think anyone is Judging a whole investment case in the bluster of one person.. That would be madness... its simply making the point that an experienced investor in Solgold seems to have lost his exuberance for the story.
Judging a whole investment case in the bluster of one person is shoddy to say the least.
I don't know how many times this needs to be said.
Irwins bullish bluster for Solgold seemed to evaporate around 6 months ago..
When his CGP friends completed the reverse takeover, he was indeed all about pushing the supposed 3 quick steps to monetisation…. closely aligned with Bobs ‘fast and clever not slow and stupid’ rhetoric… the new and improved route to a monetisation event/exit point.
I have also noted his reluctance to show any bullish tones towards Solgold these days in any of his interviews.. he barely mentions them.. in stark contrast to 12 months ago…. We can only guess the reasons.
I am sure he has a far closer understanding of how things are playing out behind the scenes… and to me it’s obviously not as he wanted/hoped for..
So we have to accept we have gone from our CEO taking over through CGP and stating we don’t need to do any more studies, it’s been studied to death…. to him having to produce a new 3rd PFS and try to find a new way forward via the Strategic Review… which is currently eternal… certainly not fast and clever..
We are where we are.. I don’t expect anything to be delivered early Q1.
Eloro, I've not noticed that in my communication with him. In fact he remains bullish about the prospects and is supportive of SC. However, what people say publicly and think privately may not necessarily be the same thing.
As far as the politics are concerned, someone needs to get rid of Trudeau.
Cheers Add, I have noted a shift in Warren's stance of late. No longer is he bullishly counting down to the corporate event like his 1, 2, 3 and currently at 2.9 clock. He no longer tweets about solg, nor does YouTube interviews where solg is mentioned. He is now preoccupied with getting Trudeau out of office. Hence, I am left with the impression that he has pretty much given up on getting his dough back anytime soon. I think he might enter Canadian politics given his tweets.

ToS1963 made a point about having reserves but not actually realising them, well I take a look at SOLG here and now as I remember the exciting days here when they found gold, 30p plus days, but I never invested as I know how long it takes to actually realise finds, so I have been massively into a gold producer that’s mining its gold, it’s nearly debt free and it’s benefiting from a new acquisition to extend the company’s future, it’s under the radar and has generated around $160 million from gold sales in the last 12 months, it’s at a huge pivotal moment being debt free in a matter of months, Market cap is just £66 million, take a look Metals Exploration PLC in the Philippines, ticker MTL.L
Sounds increasingly likely the revised PFS will be out pretty soon, anytime in the next 20 trading days I would think. Looking forward to seeing it!
Hi Quady, this is by no means intended as an attack on you and I realise I'm relying on a fair bit of hindsight here, but are you sure this will have been worth it even if what you hope for does play out?
You have been holding over 10 years now. I believe your average is around 4.5p, and you hold over a million shares. In that time the price has been to 40p a couple of times and into the 30p range a fair bit. You could have sold multiple times for a 7-10x return which would have been a very healthy return and large wedge of cash.
Are you really expecting that if you stick this for the long haul, say another 10 years, you will really see better total returns than if you'd sold at 40p five years ago and reinvested? I know you're a dividend investor and there have been some insane opportunities over the last few years in UK dividend payers. Even putting it in an index tracker between 2018 and 2030 would probably perform better than holding Solg until then.
Are you actually looking for the best investment returns now, or are you just trying to be proved right and trying to test your own patience in holding for so long? I do realise that patience is something many investors lack, that you have a lot of and has effectively been the bedrock of your successful investing strategy for the last 40 years.
Eloro, I exchanged emails with WI yesterday in which I asked him for his views on the IPA. He didn't respond to that question, in fact he dodged it twice. He did say that he's looking forward to seeing the new economic study in 'early Q1'.
Novice, there are lots of billionaires who have pledged to give their money away rather than leave it to relatives, believing that relatives should make their own way in life. What fills you with joy, whether I have a legacy, or a family? Thanks for revealing your true nature Novice!
Fort, I do not believe that we will see the phased plan, nor the conclusion of the SR by end of Q1. They will be kicked down the road so that Scott The Rocks Caldwell can keep his snout at the trough for another year. They all want their turn to accrue riches at PIs expense.
Eloro, Have you never heard of the term " leaving a legacy" for your future family, unless you do not have any ?
That in itself fills me daily with joy and warmth
ONWARDS & UPWARDS!!!
I very much doubt many of us will still bealive in 27 years to witness the outcome of solg in production. I get the impression that Lord Braggart is in his early to mid-70s for a start. Even if he lives for another 20 years, what's the point of being wealthy and feeble?
Incidentally, you signal your agreement of the ToS post in which he points out the key issue, namely that we've demonstrated no capability to take this to production. He's right, and we will never have that capability.
The crying shame is that the board have wasted years pretending that we do.
Q, you say a bidder would have to talk to many companies to acquire their shares. What do you think happens when a FTSE100/250 company receives a bid? This is not an obstacle.
Tos1963.
Sumed things up perfectly.
That is exactly the position we're at.
Add to that, there is not one scrap of evidence to show anyone is, at this time making any attempt to buy us.
Despite the daily ramblings of rk, adikt, bbg and dbw, that lots is going on in the background.
BPHIL.
I have been invested for over ten years in Solgold.
Trust me someone would have bought us by now.
I have explained over the years what needs to happen to sell this to a bidder.
Firstly the book must become less diverse.
A company that wants to bid for us, would have to talk to so many companies to acquire their share holdings at a price they wanted to pay.
We cannot have a hostile takeover, where someone bids for us as the price would be too high.
A JV now may be the only way.
That or this goes on forever.
In the last few days Rio Tinto announced a iron ore mine in Africa.
It took them 27 years.
What people on here don't realise is the government in Ecuador will have to wait
All this rubbish about they won't wait is rubbish.
They cannot interfere, to do so would destroy future mining in Ecuador for everyone.
We are playing a waiting game now.
Some will fall along the way, but I am here for the long term.
There’s no other way, Quady ?Really ?
Not even selling it to someone else to extract ?
Exactly ToS1963.
We need to extract it.
No other way.
I’ll just say it.... (again!). We don’t have any copper. Or silver. Or gold.
We hold licences to look for it.
We found a very significant deposit, at depth.
We now (thankfully) hold a license to extract it.
We show no capability whatsoever of doing so.
The SP reflects this.
So you can post all the copper shortage, gold price BS you like, until the cows come home, it won’t make a jot of difference to your investment here unless and until we have a plausible, viable strategy to realise the value in the ground.
If all those links get you excited, best to invest in someone who is actually mining the stuff.
Red, that's lot of reading to be done! Was it so cold to keep you indoors today! LOL!!

Enjoy!
20p? Make it 25p please.
I might be left with 20p in my bank account at this rate of price decline, but hey, it's been fun to dream of that 60ft sailboat!
