Mixed bag of responses, some rather surprising, I feel.
Of course I only have myself to blame for chasing shadows, regarding SP spikes above 30p - expecting more positive news that takes it to the 'next level'.
I'm used to catching shadows too: Dragon Oil, Sirius Minerals, and others, but this time - no such luck I guess.
Why haven't I cut my losses - pride, I guess. I need double my average to show a mediocre gain now...this would compensate partially for wasting the last 9 years of investing in a dud.
I stay entrenched because I know it will come good and as I said before....for me anyway, it's not that I need the green drinking vouchers (for those who remember the £1 note!
The vibes ares better under DC and more and more 'noise' emanates from the market place, so maybe I'm closer than ever before to catching this current shadow.
I'm grateful for the opportunity.
I wish us all a happy ending.
Z
Thank you DBW & Bozi
Zoros - now a clearer picture is emerging.
You bought at 1.5p yet you wound up with a 26p average, indicating that you carried on piling in to the stock well into the 30s at least.
You were picked up on the wave of discovery euphoria.
I'm sure you've seen the Lassonde curve? Well SolGold appears to be tracking it. Is GGP too? Possibly.
Instead of blaming Mather which i know is so easy to do, maybe own your own decisions to buy more stock at inflated prices despite SolGold needing further funds for exploration. Nothing was ever hidden from investors in this regard. Neither was it hidden as to the company strategy of aggressively taking up PLs in the country in the hope of packaging up a sizeable exploration and development company.
Shareholders have had multiple exit points, the most recent being pre PFS. Yet still some complain.
Monte - take Zoros under your wing... You've posted some really good stuff today and he might find peace with his investment on the next run up of the SP.
What relevance to solgold would it be DBW?
@zoros.. Read you 1800 post and made me chuckle. Me and half my family own solg and have done for years now. Family get togethers where we dream of the holiday home paid for by our wise investment in SOLG, year after year :-) let's hope its worth it eventually and the reason SOLG retweeted that post was down to the 'its almost as if the process is about to kick off' part, and them dropping a hit as to what's coming. The goods are in the ground and are going nowhere so this is just a waiting game. Have a nice evening all. C
Monte

Z I’m surprised you didn’t sell at the 40p level ? What’s 5p amongst long term friends. You only have yourself to blame. Take a look in the mirror, dust yourself off and go again I might be “just noise” but am still invested just like you. To me you are pointless and irrelevant if you really want to know
Tweet?
Do tell don't tease
Ditto
One of the oldest sayings in investment springs to mind. When the story changes, I change my mind.
Sounds like you made 2 big mistakes. You chased the SP up.
You stuck with the investment when things were happening with the company that you did not like.
By the way, we were at 40p just days before the PFS was realease, why did you not sell?
Sounds like you only have yourself to blame. Anyway you will probably get another chance sometime this summer, don't waste it if you feel like that.
Not sure of the significance of Solgold’s latest tweet
Hi Z, not sure if you have me filtered or not but surely the time you have been around are you not in profit ? could you not simply sell up if you are really disappointed with the stock and company. Interested to hear your thoughts. I simply would not hold if I felt like you do ...
rcgl2 - I'll bring you up to speed, to avoid future confusion and assumptions on your behalf.
This is not a secret, I have mentioned this on several occasions over the last fecking decade:
I bought Solg around mid May 2013, after discovering it on another forum. I bought in at 1.5p. For the following (gawd knows how many) years, I kept buying and ended up with 500k @ an average of 26p. This stopped a couple of years ago because I knew NM and his board were flop co ck ing around and he was over exaggerating and under performing. So I am stuck with the 500k @ 26p now. Luckily it is money I can afford to park in the bottom drawer and not call upon, otherwise I would really be twitter and bisted with this crape stock.
Not once have I doubted what they are sitting on - a once in a lifetime find IMO.
And that's the problem it will be once and it will cost a lifetime to benefit from!
[Until GGP came along, thank gawd!].
My bi tch is that the company have led us a merry dance producing loads of goodwill with the ecuadorian people and their government and completely ignored their shareholders. Why is that?
It is because they didn't have a fecking clue how to run the show (proven twice when NM tried to take CGP out - what a complete and utter fiasco that was - not their finest moment.....and then there was the AGM......and then there were indeterminate periods of radio silence).
Hopefully DC knows what buttons to push and my hopes have been revived (for the short term).
Listening to people like RK and CD on here compound the depression surrounding solg. All talk and bluster. Others like bubblebutt and novochoc are just noise.
Now I need to ATLEAST double my money to show a half decent return on my invested time in this stock. And that might mean another 5 years at this rate!.
If anyone wants to buy my shares for 45p right now - call me!
So it wasn't an arbitary time frame as you say to buy in. Like many here we all thought: get in early and watch this stock fly!!!!
And then NM and Co...........fecked up year after year after year.
Here's to tomorrow eh?
Z
Correct, and after 5 years you tend to see the pattern and adjust your portfolio accordingly... Never mind what certain posters here say about being invested here for 6,7 or 10 years. there has been many opportunities to crystalize good profits and then reinvest when funds have been available. ONWARDS & UPWARDS. Definitely got the feel of a new base being formed here for another move upwards...
1)
The SP has moved between 1.5p and 46p over the last 8 years. From 12p to 42p over the last 2.5 years. this talk of opportunity cost needs to be balanced with when you purchased your shares, and your average purchase price. For some it's return has been stunning for some they are under water. It's all relevent.
2)
Having followed the SP closely for a number of years, Im pretty sure the SP is not held down for large buyers or to keep a cap on the price. It basically moves between 20p and 40p year after year, depending on the sentiment at the time.
Wow.. Just dropped in here after the long weekend, hoping to find something informative…. Hmmmm this bb is becoming nearly as disappointing as Solgs performance…
In general I agree with the start of this thread… the boards glacial pace at which they show not progress really is a wonder to behold.. the opportunity cost of being invested here is painful to accept
I agree with Zoros rgcl, but your post explains exactly WHY I agree with him and it’s not necessarily because he’s right - great post and ticked up!
What a bunch of pathetic little kids you are
Z you are only bitter because you timed your purchases poorly in Solg. I think you said your average is high 30s or something? During the ten year period you refer to some people picked up their shares for single digit pennies. It's been possible to buy around 20p and sell in the high 30s or 40p on multiple occasions.
My Solg holding is up 25% in 2.5 years, it's not been a dog for everyone. I assume you were fortunate enough to get into GGP in the single pennies a few years ago, so even at 13p you're up almost 10x? No wonder you think it's a great investment, and are totally ignoring the fact that for anyone who bought it last year in the high 30s, when all of the cheerleaders were providing incredibly detailed analyses of how it could be worth 80p or £1, GGP has just incinerated almost 60% of their capital in less than 2 years.
In short, anyone can pick arbitrary time frames in any stock to proclaim whether it's been a good or bad investment. What I have an issue with is blaming the SP performance on the company. As I said the other day, buying Solg and holding assuming a buyout is taking a lot of risk over something that is not under the company's control. Particularly when they've been saying for years they intend to go to production and not sell or farm in the asset. This isn't the sort of stock anyone should hold for 10 years if they aren't expecting extreme volatility and a substantial period underwater as it progresses through the lassonde curve.
As mentioned earlier, picking up stocks like LGEN and Aviva in 2020 with 9-10% dividend yields which will massively compound over 20 years are the kind of stocks people should buy and never sell. I'm sure you know that though!
That's it MassiveRay keep copying me xxx
What's your age ?
That's it novice keep copying me :)
And another Massive, someone needs to love and feed your attention deficit ; o )) xx
Cheers novice, try to stay away from the one liners anyone would think you haven't a clue...
“If you aren’t willing to own a stock for 10 years, don’t even think about owning it for 10 minutes.”...
Ticked you up Massive...
That post was just brilliant novice, full of clues and well thought out research .. Well done...
