Correct, and after 5 years you tend to see the pattern and adjust your portfolio accordingly... Never mind what certain posters here say about being invested here for 6,7 or 10 years. there has been many opportunities to crystalize good profits and then reinvest when funds have been available. ONWARDS & UPWARDS. Definitely got the feel of a new base being formed here for another move upwards...

The SP has moved between 1.5p and 46p over the last 8 years. From 12p to 42p over the last 2.5 years. this talk of opportunity cost needs to be balanced with when you purchased your shares, and your average purchase price. For some it's return has been stunning for some they are under water. It's all relevent.
2)
Having followed the SP closely for a number of years, Im pretty sure the SP is not held down for large buyers or to keep a cap on the price. It basically moves between 20p and 40p year after year, depending on the sentiment at the time.
Wow.. Just dropped in here after the long weekend, hoping to find something informative…. Hmmmm this bb is becoming nearly as disappointing as Solgs performance…
In general I agree with the start of this thread… the boards glacial pace at which they show not progress really is a wonder to behold.. the opportunity cost of being invested here is painful to accept
I agree with Zoros rgcl, but your post explains exactly WHY I agree with him and it’s not necessarily because he’s right - great post and ticked up!
What a bunch of pathetic little kids you are
Z you are only bitter because you timed your purchases poorly in Solg. I think you said your average is high 30s or something? During the ten year period you refer to some people picked up their shares for single digit pennies. It's been possible to buy around 20p and sell in the high 30s or 40p on multiple occasions.
My Solg holding is up 25% in 2.5 years, it's not been a dog for everyone. I assume you were fortunate enough to get into GGP in the single pennies a few years ago, so even at 13p you're up almost 10x? No wonder you think it's a great investment, and are totally ignoring the fact that for anyone who bought it last year in the high 30s, when all of the cheerleaders were providing incredibly detailed analyses of how it could be worth 80p or £1, GGP has just incinerated almost 60% of their capital in less than 2 years.
In short, anyone can pick arbitrary time frames in any stock to proclaim whether it's been a good or bad investment. What I have an issue with is blaming the SP performance on the company. As I said the other day, buying Solg and holding assuming a buyout is taking a lot of risk over something that is not under the company's control. Particularly when they've been saying for years they intend to go to production and not sell or farm in the asset. This isn't the sort of stock anyone should hold for 10 years if they aren't expecting extreme volatility and a substantial period underwater as it progresses through the lassonde curve.
As mentioned earlier, picking up stocks like LGEN and Aviva in 2020 with 9-10% dividend yields which will massively compound over 20 years are the kind of stocks people should buy and never sell. I'm sure you know that though!
That's it MassiveRay keep copying me xxx
What's your age ?
That's it novice keep copying me :)
And another Massive, someone needs to love and feed your attention deficit ; o )) xx
Cheers novice, try to stay away from the one liners anyone would think you haven't a clue...
“If you aren’t willing to own a stock for 10 years, don’t even think about owning it for 10 minutes.”...
Ticked you up Massive...
That post was just brilliant novice, full of clues and well thought out research .. Well done...
Bozi (et al).....think about this for a moment. There are people on here who will have had children, seen them go through primary and start GCSE's before Solg produces 1oz of gold????
Others will simply have retired, dabbled with investing and since died!!!!
How old were you when this all started?
Z
CGAS Massive... not in it for ticks... ONWARDS & UPWARDS (you're weird)
Ticked you up novice...
Just checked again and saw 80 posts wow I thought we must have had a buyout offer but to no avail lolzzz just lots of nonsense amongst bickering old women. I think we all know what is coming here what we don’t know are the timescales. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS !!!
What happened to the "40p plus" you stated upon opening of the pfs rns drake?
You're comparing apples and pears Zoros, but you've been told this before.
Your beloved GGP is going to pay handsomely for having a project fast tracked to production, and that will involve being strong-armed off the remaining 25% by NCM for relatively peanuts.
We'll see how the final result stacks up vs your inflationary concerns.
Oh dear CD - your post on GGP has been removed? Why is that?
Silly little man - fomenting trouble........
You are obviously upset ......calm down. Relax.
Z
Did I hit a raw nerve there CD: Is it because you are the rinse and repeat king!
Mega monotonous posts, same old boll ox. Can't you think of something new to talk about = perleeeeze?
Atleast RK's posts about the ins and outs of a duck's ar se with his investments, his inside leg measurements, where he's going on holiday this year last year and every year and his wife's weekly financial register and accountholding - raises a laugh.
Are you married?
Z
Bozi - GGP discovered Hav in 2018, 4 years ago. They are already diging the decline to the motherlode and will produce first ore in Q1/24, 2 years from now. Start to finish: 6 years!
Now let's compare: Solg discovers Alpala in 2011? They haven't started building the mine yet (after 11 years). Expected first ore from Alpala: 5+ years (open pit) 7+ years block cave.
Total: 16 to 18 fecking years!!
Take a hike Bozi.
Z
Oh dear buddy, doesn't look like your kids will be getting much from your investment here then ? Id sell and put it elsewhere then you won't have to post the same narrative day in day out... We get you don't like SOLG. I love it and done very well. Zoro certainly doesn't speak for me either.
A grim assessment zoros and one I share... if and only if talk of a bid is kicked into the long grass. But I do think a bid is coming this summer. A bid is the only way for this share to reward us now - everything else is just delay and dilution. Of course the crowd who bought in at 1.5p (and goodness aren't there a lot of them) can always happily wait forever, but 28p in May 2017 and 28p today is hardly a good investment, especially with uk inflation at 8%. A bid is the golden ticket out of this.
No, I couldn't agree any less Zoros.
How do your inflationary comments apply to GGP? Just interested to know given the similar deposit discovery spikes followed by lengthy sideway consolidations.
