Now my 2nd largest holding out of 20. Those directors better know what they doing..
glad to hear they are all paid so well
Another director purchase: Andrew Ross, spending £90,000 to buy another 15,000 shares at 590p.
Very helpful BodRuncle. One of very few to tick up on Friday. We just have to pray that this war ends soon and in the best possible outcome.
A very clear statement of intent from the board.
Since Jan 1st 2022, there have been 6 separate purchases by 6 separate board members, with prices paid ranging from 699p down to 550p.
Amount of shares purchased: 185,000
Amount paid for these shares: over £1.16m
And another decent (30K shares) director purchase. Looking at a BOD cluster buy here - v nice indeed!
Me too - in and out of Polymetal International plc within 2 hours for a 2% loss (I decided it was too sporty for me under these circumstances). Never changed my mind so quickly... Starting to realise that with these gyrations it's better not to try to be too clever.
Yup, this is a moment for records.
That was the shortest time I've held a stock, can't believe i got 568p this morning, only 2p down on yesterday.
Think I'll wait for sub 500p now
Especially as other directors bought in around 100p higher!
I'm glad, have me a chance to buy in.
First position at 570p
Let's see how it goes, , looks like a good opportunity
Big director buy - 50K shares - which hasn't moved the share price at all...
What a market!
any clever person know how much of POLR's turnover is linked to PCT? ...rough comparison of Polar's ITs and POLR show POLR has fallen by far the most in YTD
Get ready! We may see mid to low 500s next week.
This is essentially (at least in part) a leveraged technology play. If technology falls then this is going to fall a lot more - the performance fees on the flagship fund mean earnings are likely to be significantly lower with a technology pullback. In addition to that this also pays a decent dividend - that's likely to be cut if earnings are significantly lower. This has had a great run, long term I think it's an excellent company but earnings will be very volatile. Would consider buying (again I have held before, I sold everything at mid £8s). Love the company but started to look expensive. I would consider coming back in at mid to low £5s.
Just got in at 577. Thanks, yanks.
Of course it will go lower ..

Added some more this morning at 584, average still above 700 though so hoping to see a significant recovery from here. For me, the six-monthly dividend makes it more likely that this kind of drop can be manipulated XD. I'd much prefer a quarterly income in equal amounts. I have no idea what the final dividend, and therefore the yield, is likely to be here. Perhaps it's just because my quarterly payers tend to be more boring, but I'd take boring here rather than this roller coaster ride.
In March 2020 I lost faith and sold a considerable holding in POLR, taking a painful loss which I managed to offset with profits on an SGRO buy.
This time I am sitting tight, partly because I can't see a better opportunity elsewhere and partly because I strongly agree the drop is an "overreaction to tech sell off". I think the sell off may continue but tomorrow after the US has had time to wake up and drop the price again, I might top up my holding. Or I might wait till next week. The figures suggest this stock is very cheap.
I think it suffers cause there has been a sell off in tech stocks. but even that doesnt justify this kind of drop imo.. an overreaction to tech sell off probably
Having bought another tranche at the end of Dec in the expectation of a continuing rise I'm feeling a bit of a fool missing both the dividend and incurring a 23% hit. What is disconcerting is that I haven't been able to identify a clear reason for the precipitous drop or an inkling as to when the fall will be arrested. Hopefully before too long it will recover at a similar rate or the BoD will provide some indication as to the cause.
We are in break-up territory. I know the market is lousy right now but if our BoD were smart, they would be reducing assets for cash and reinvesting it in due course. In this market and with interest rates only going one way, cash rich is far more sensible than assets - or are they unsaleable?
This for me is one of the best Buy signals there is. They are on the inside and they can see what is coming down the pipeline, whereas us PIs have to wait for trading reports and annual statements, and they are putting their own money on the line. A lot of it.
Positive news on the director dealings front:
2022 to Date:
14/01/2022 - Non-executive Director (Andrew Ross) purchased 30,000 shares at 665p (£199,500)
14/01/2022 - Non-executive Chairman (David Lamb) purchased 45,000 shares at 686p (£308,700)
17/01/2022 - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) (Gavin Rochussen) purchased 20,000 shares at 699p (£139,976)
01/02/2022 - Non-executive Director (Win Robbins) purchased 10,000 shares at 636p (£63,673).
It’s always a positive to see non-executive board members purchasing shares in tandem with executive management team.
Headline in the FT isn’t too useful!!
And look at today's price action on double the Buys and Sells. One can be done on US Technology, but isn't this a bit mad?
