I had a 2k margin call on nmc , but was £1200 up. On suspension I sold all my positions , including £300 a point on lloyds etc. I then left £800 in account to cover the margin. Haven't traded since. Saved me 15k+, and screw the speadbetting firm!
Mrd, i was in tullow too, then nmc so feel your pain. I think shares are a curse. I always sell too early on a rally, and when i don't they nose dive. My positions are constantly in the red, and it seems my mood is determined by the markets, which normally means a **** mood. I'm going to try and give up, and if anything I'll actually be wealthier!
I have a tip. You can only lose what's in your account. Empty it to only leave the margin call, and that's all you can lose. Close all your other positions first. Can always reopen in a fresh account. Hope this helps someone. Done it to my account, now only stand to lose £800 , instead of £4k+
