The fact that we didn't receive any PR regarding V1 after the stock market closed yesterday gives me hope that there are no negative news about it so far. Because typically, Friday after the market closes is the ideal time to release such negative PR. This means that at the moment, either there are no definitive results, or there are positive results that might be announced on Monday morning. There is still hope.
Not sure if the highest spread reached, but I’ve seen just over 11% in the last few days. But varies in minutes.
Now the main obstacle is out of the way ie LP we should be informed soon when the 2 week workover will begin at H1, there are still a few months left in this drilling season so hopefully get at least the workover for H1 done and spud H2, there are only a few more days until we find out if V1 has been successful or not and if it is then move on to spud V2, imo, that's when I believe the SP will start to show some appreciation. So I'm wondering will we get an operational update when the results are announced? Lots of news to come out way now so the next few weeks are going to be quite interesting. Onwards and upwards 😁 GLA
“MM’s in the main make money on the spread. Simple as that. This is not any higher, simply because there were not enough buyers to sustain the rise.”
Exactly.
MM’s in the main make money on the spread. Simple as that. This is not any higher, simply because there were not enough buyers to sustain the rise. The fundamentals of a business are generally always separate from its share price in such AIM shares. Mainly because they have no fundamentals other than a few permissions or some ground they may or may not be worth anything.
The fact that it was higher previously has everything to do with speculation and the amount of buyers. If it was fixed purely on fundamentals then the share price would stay the same days on end until news changed that. What happens in reality is the share price moves on demand based on speculation and anticipation.
AIM is rotten to the core and let’s be honest is full of punters and gamblers. They drive the price in a particular direction. The MM’s just help them do that. If you want fundamentals then the FTSE100 may offer a better place for investment.
Investor33, thanks for your informative post.
How should one trade a stock like Matad in your opinion? I'm sitting long hoping that the share reaches double digits, or should my strategy be in/out because of the"MM's manipulations" along the way to reach double digits?
Mr Researchandhold
Maybe you right when they hit stopliss to fill big order. This I hear can happen but do not know about rest.
Have good weekend sir :)
WOS - I agree it’s fundamentals that matter to real long term
Investors but the Doc83 versus the Investor33 debate is about what drives short term SP and whilst Doc83 is right it’s often down to sentiment of the herd but Investor33 is correct the MMs use short term sentiment to amplify movement in either direction to make their profit margins . The algorithms amplify to maximise margin and the men behind the scenes set the levers to trade the sentiment to its maximum advantage to the Mms
Move from explorer to producer - oil production / revenue generating this year AND first revenue from Renewable operations "moving at pace" is not slow burn LOL ;)
Lot of conspiracy theory do not know who is right & is not important from my investment view.
If you really ask me for opinion in this one I think I agree with mr Doc (finally we agree on something lol) but like I say not important for me about conspiracies. Fundamental decide my decisions.
Price I think more reaction short term from herd thinking. People want position but think V1 duster will give them better entry.
For me this is very very dangerous tactic at this price with Friday drop already happen and at technical support which have shown HARD BOUNCE multiple time.
V1 is on WORKING PETROLEUM SYSTEM and even small oil show will catch lot of pants down. Also V2 ready to go, other news & will say again think some big Institutional investment will be targeting MATD as future Revenue Producer / Dividend Stock.
Investor approach little bit more straightforward :)
WOS, give it a rest. You ramped this relentlessly on the LP and it hasn't turned out to be the hoped for magic bullet. PM is a slow burner from here on in & its investors will need much patience before the sunny uplands come into view - if they ever do.
Header say all
Now land access given and Petro Matad ready to move from Explorer to Produce then price will start to increase.
Short term reaction only because of V1 drill. If no V1 price would be much higher alreasy I think.
Whatever happen with V1 price should push back going forward into double digit territory & move higher with other development.
This is investing view & not (very) short term reaction view.
Big holding bigger profit eventually & easier to handle investment like professional investor :)
Everyone do own thing but my target many many multiple if current SP. Be happy & have good weekend. Pressure off now with Special Certifucation news on Thursday :)
Investor33 - enlightening posting history btw. All the way back to 2019 when you first joined, the first and almost every single post is conspiracy theories on MMs!
Hmm…
investor33: “well that's because like many on here you have this rather naive notion of a share price that is purely news and fundamentals driven. it isn't - and you need to understand what the mms get up to. ”
poppy****. and your arrogance beggars belief.
i’ve been an investor a long time, have experience in the industry and have said many times on lse that markets and stocks are typically driven in the short term by sentiment rather than fundamentals… but this case is nothing to do with “mms accumulating shares” and you certainly don’t have any proof of that. it is more likely a case of there simply not being sufficiently more buyers than sellers. all these conspiracy theories are laughable… they were bad enough when we had no news/lp. but even post lp and positive news you are trying to find excuses for why the sp hasn’t risen further.
Investor33 - another cracking insight again. Totalling makes sense. From being a novice when I initially invested many years ago, can now understand where you are coming from. Weak investors continually fleeced.
@Doc83
"Well this one has me a bit stumped. " You said.
Well that's because like many on here you have this rather naive notion of a share price that is purely news and fundamentals driven. It isn't - and you need to understand what the mms get up to.
To take an example, that second to last last spike to 7.3p was entirely a mm created manipulation. They had accumulated , and then when ready promptly stirred up a bit of FOMO without anything in terms of the fundamentals actually changing. Then they dumped those shares that they had accumulated at the top of the spike to the unwary, and then promptly let it fall back to a previous support of 3.4p whilst hoovering up a load of stops whilst they did this. Volume levels were really low all the time that this artificial spike happened.
Now once again they have used ' news ' as cover to accumulate and distribute. They accumulated at around 3.4p and then let it spike again to about 6p on the ' LP good news ' which stirred up lots of FOMO for them. They then distributed in this climate of FOMO and now have promptly let it fall hard again today by about 14% despite the buys outnumbering the sells. FOMO has now turned into fear of losses, so people are today coming out with comments such as ' there must be a raise around the corner ' or ' maybe somebody knows that Velo will be a duster. ' These kinds of sentiments help the mms in what they do. You have to realise too that the mms can see where all the stops are, and they deliberately run at them. This helps them to pick up lots of cheap shares.
Long-term, the share price will ultimately be determined by the fundamentals, however there will be lots of these spikes in the meantime. People who believe that you have positive news and then an immediate one way soaring of the share price just don't understand how AIM shares work or how they are manipulated. In fact it's more than just AIM stocks, however because they are quite thinly traded and liquidity is quite low, they are far more easily manipulated.
Take an example outside of AIM - Jet2. Yesterday it announced profits of nearly £400m compared to a loss of about £340m in its previous earnings announcement. The chairman also announced that he standing down after 40 years. Jet2's share price then plummeted by about 11%....If a pilot caught a cold the mms would use that news to wipe 10% off the share price and hit all those lovely stops....
Interestingly, someone on the Jet2 board mentioned that some companies are refusing to list in the UK, as they feel that foreign mm companies are fleecing local investors. I found that comment very interesting - there's far more to price action than just good or bad news !

Think MTC was referring to flow test at V1 drill.
I also think V1 should come good. There is defo a working petroleum system in Block V as evidenced few years ago from Oil stains in TC core hole and more recently Oil shows at Snow Leapord...which seem to have migrated to very likely the Raptors as per the 3D analysis.
You dont normally plan a V2 appraisal well even before V1 was spud unless you are super confident.
It's already been flow tested... and it's commercial

Iamrich: “Doc83 lol so you bought in at the wrong time and the negative talk is gone out the window now squirming as you threat of losing money ”
What the F are you on about now? Bought in at the wrong time? You mean my top up yesterday at 5.8p or my three other buys at 3.5p, the biggest by far in the raise at 2.5p or my top up at 4.2p?
I’m well up here but yes, my one day old top up yesterday is out of the money as it were. You’ll rarely pick the absolute bottom or top of the market.
But why start??? What did I say other than anything positive today?
You really are a class A fukk up. Millionaire? LOLLLLLLL!
For almost 24 hours I could bask in the comfort of seeing my investment in the blue. Ah well, if was nice while it lasted......
