If there are issues at Board level and they are material then the company have no option but to inform the market. Not to do so contravenes the law.
Long-distance coal transportation has started.
Long-distance coal hauling began today, with the first 100 trucks leaving for work at 5 am. The gradual improvement of the infection control regime in Tsagaan Khad has yielded the current results. On the other hand , the analysis at Gants Mod port did not reveal any positive cases of shortness of breath in the last two weeks . Therefore, long-distance coal transportation will start today , and open coal transportation will start on May 31 . Our country has budgeted to export 36.7 million tons of coal this year .
If there are no further positive developments, the Foreign Affairs Department and the Port Council of Bayannuur, Inner Mongolia, will offer to withdraw 400 vehicles a day. Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene will visit Umnugovi aimag tomorrow to get acquainted with the operations of Shiveekhuren and Gashuunsukhait ports and start transportation from Tavan Tolgoi mine to Tsagaan Khad .

curious: I emailed investor relations for an update, I will post if they respond.

Goldmine
I will ask Dashka from MT where all the rigs are currently in Mongolia and what utilization looks like over the coming months.
I am in UB the end of May so will be easier to get clarity on border logistics and rig procurement.
So maybe not there yet Goldmine?
Also Bowley why are you still posting at 03.30am in the morning, do you not have business to attend too ? I thought Ulaanbaatar was 8 hours in front.
Sorry all the ??????? is the slavic text for Shiveekhuren-Sekhe, it won't let me paste them here
Bowley: the statement that "The borders are now open as per the Justice Ministers tweet today,", please can you elaborate on this, looking at the Justice Ministers twitter (@KhNyambaatar) there is a tweet about long distance coal shipment resuming, and a tweet about the Shiveekhuren-Sekhe (??????????-????) road opening, but no actual statement about border with china being re-opened.
Looking at the map the ??????????-???? road is in the south and is not the border crossing discussed in the PM presentation which is used by PetroChina for truck crossings. Therefore can I ask you elaborate further on your statement "The borders are now open as per the Justice Ministers tweet today"?
Thanks for posting Bowley.
I have researched lots recently and it seems that the Mongolian government want future thinking industries demonstrating economic and sustainable value to Mongolia. I think Petro China is a bit dirty so they are currently at a halt whilst all sorts of alleged shenanigans are being deep dived into. This may have an impact on us and DQE in the short term but I'm confident (well hopeful anyway) that PM will come out of this with honours
I can only speak for myself.
The current government is the best Mongolia has had. The current PM is visionary and is making significant changes to the country all on the back of Covid decimating his economy. His senior ministers again are outstanding and understand what they wish as a cabinet to achieve over the short to medium term.
Oil will be a big part of this. The countries investment in a refinery presents a huge opportunity for companies to feed that. Matad will be key to this. The recent discussions regarding the Petro China PSC is a clear indicator the government wants a self sustaining oil sector. I was only reading today the stats for petroleum imports from Russia.
The question I have is if the deck is now so heavily stacked in Matads favour, why are we not getting clear and consistent updates as to how Matad will deliver a stated quota to the government.
Unless there is something else happening within Matad at board level they are not telling the markets, could this be the reason for the ongoing failure to deliver ?
Spanish and Bowley. You both state you are in business and in Mongolia. Would be good to hear what you have to say
yes the borders are open at the moment and everything being equal will hopefully remain open but that does not mean they could close again at any moment. The point i am trying to make is that although much of this is in MB's hands and one hopes he has had zoom contact (as he enjoys zooming) with various senior people at DQE and also he Mongolian Government during this time. If he has and once the borders become fully operational then hopefully we will get a good RNS shortly.

The borders are now open as per the Justice Ministers tweet today,
Borders are no longer an excuse.
He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy (MB that is).
There seems to be a lot of people unable to read on this site. (Ok they can read 'words' but can't read a sentence and understand it).
Words like 'anticipated' mean that it is hoped that... e.g. We anticipate we will have a contract in place by end Q2 ..... that doesn't mean "we WILL have contracts by end Q2....
equally quoting what a 3rd party says doesn't mean the author is stating it as fact.
( I bet some of you now need to look up what 3rd party means...)
Oh man!
The drilling will be when the drilling will be. A small matter of a country gone into meltdown ie china over Covid is going to drive this so whether MB promised or not is almost irrelevant. If China impose another lockdown or how they come out of this one will drive this. As i see it that is the long and short of it. You could be the Messiah but unless you can get China to change then it would be useless. It is not just the rig or the contractors but also the ability to get the product across the boarder to the refinery. We should hear soon enough one way or another. Either bail out now and come back when it hits 2p or stay with it and watch it go to double digits in double quick time. It's your penny and your bet Red or Black. you Choose. GLA
"End of q2 is end of June. Are you sure we weren’t promised we will be producing end of Q2?"
They had first production from Heron scheduled for mid 2022 'hopefully' - it's on the timeline slide in the investor presentation they did last year.

Oh man!
Drilling was in Q4 but heron workover was in Q2.
Not sure which year 2022 or 2023.
Simon: it doesn't say anywhere in the December RNS that drilling is "promised" to start in Q2; plus there has obviously been 2 more Operational Updates since then. But if you want to keep claiming that is the case, please do so!
Start of the Q2 drilling season.RNS 7th dec 2021
SimonPartridge... I suggest you read the two operational updates made in February and then May 2022.
Nowhere does it promise anything will be online by end of Q2, given the amount of dependencies on 3rd party companies and government bodies etc I doubt it would be possible to make such a promise without leaving themselves open to a lawsuit.
End of q2 is end of June. Are you sure we weren’t promised we will be producing end of Q2? I thought we were
Traffic at Shiveekhuren-Sekhee port was restored.
Due to the first case of coronavirus in Eznee County, Alshaa Aimag, Inner Mongolia, China, the port was closed on October 16, 2021 at the request of the Chinese side.
The Chinese side has implemented a policy to prevent the spread of the plague and to strictly enforce the infection control regime, and in the past has built a decontamination and disinfection facility at the port of Sehee.
Subsequently, the parties agreed to establish a container exchange area in the border area of ??the Shiveekhuren-Sekhee border crossing, and the operation of the border began on the 25th on the basis of a diplomatic agreement to transport mining products, especially coal, between the two countries.
